we are moving to France early next year and would like to find out if my 18 year old son would have any difficulty in having a plate removed from his collar bone fairly quickly.
He broke his collar bone over 12 months ago (handlebar acrobats) and because he made such a good job of it had to have a metal plate installed. His bone has healed with no problems but the specialist has said that having the plate out is 'not an important operation' (even thou it is causing him quite a lot of pain. We have been estimated perhaps within the next 6 months but probably not this side of xmas! He also has a heart murmer so would need to stay in overnight to be monitered under anasthetic - which is where we think the problems lie.
Would he need to register with anybody in particular or just go to any doctor?

I don't believe that the E111 works for exsisting medical conditions. And frankly I hope that it doesn't. I dread to think how the already strained system here would hold out if there was an influx of people from the UK sapping the services.

You could go and see any doctor here but how much it would cost I have no idea.
