Teamedup Posted June 30, 2005 Share Posted June 30, 2005 I only know one person with MS here and it isn't severe enough for them to claim anything as yet. Something to think about. Retirement age is 60 in France and that is when the state pension kicks in. Lots of benefits change or stop at 60. You said your husband had paid in for nearly forty years, but not how old he is. He won't be entitled to a french pension as he hasn't worked here. Also, if he comes here and therefore isn't in the UK system, then he may have to make up any outstanding years to get his Uk state pension at 65. I suspect that french benefit may be means tested. Also, will you have something to live on between the age of 60 and 65 if you fall between the two systems paying you. You should contact a CAF office and the COTAREP and see what is what and what.
