UK prescriptions in France

I work regularly in Paris, often for a couple of weeks at a time.  My GP is still in the UK.  I should be well-enough organised to ensure that I get my regular medications dispensed in the UK, however this isn't always the case! Is it possible to get the occasional UK prescription dispensed by a French pharmacist - even if this means paying?  Simply that from time to time I forget to get a prescription dispensed and then find myself in Paris with a prescription and no medicines.

Advice would be welcome.

Many medicines that are on prescription in the UK are available over the counter in France ( eg asthma inhalers). It would be worth checking with a French pharmacist.

I can't answer if it's possible or not, but bear in mind that some medicines from the UK aren't available at all in France - i.e. different brands of contraceptive pill.

I've always found it helpful to have an empty packet or something similar with you and then the pharmacist can look up the equivalent French or generic brand. (see thread on expensive medicines)

At one time I had an arrangement with my pharmacist in the UK. I left him some stamped addressed packets and if I needed a prescription sent I first wrote to the GP asking for it then let the pharmacist know. He would then collect the prescription and post the goods to me. Pat.
