9online numeris connection problems

Has anyone suffered the same connection problem as both myself and partner are getting, I use PC, he uses mac, we are on different numeris lines but we both get the problem that the machines occasionally appear to connect correctly but just don't work.

On my pc the connection panel often shows a similar number of bytes transfered, in the region of 245 for what that is worth, but it does vary a little. It does not matter how long you leave the connection on, it will not transmit any data at all.

Sometimes it can take up to 30 disconnections and reconnections before a stable connection is established, other times it can be instant. There is no apparent correlation with the time of day we try to connect.

I spoke to 9online to no avail.

I use a french modem card so it is not a hardware incompatability issue as sometimes happens with modems. I have a 'pay to use' numeris service with another isp which connects first time every time so it would appear not to be a hardware issue, is there some deep setting I need to optimise to work with 9online, or is it just their poor servers.

we've had 9online on numeris on the unlimited tarif for a couple of years now. We have had from time to time a problem of line connection withno internet access (sounds similar to your problem), but havn't had this for a while and usually it has only lasted 1/2 a day or so.

There's no specific hardware setting for 9online. If you have not set the DNS numbers in your network connection(under TCP/IP) it might be an idea to set these according to 9online values (212.30.96.108 and 212.203.124.146 ), but for me it generally seems to be OK without these set.
