Vodafone Live! via SFR

Recommended Posts

Hi there!  When we came to France I bought a new SFR sim card and put it in my Nokia 6600.  It works but I can no longer access Vodafone Live and my email etc by phone. I've tried calling SFR to get the appropriate access point for WAP and GPRS and just get transferred and passed from pillar to post.  After calling 4 different numbers, including their English speaking help desk at .70 euros per minute I've given up.  Can anyone out there help me?

Nic
Daft question: Do you have to subscribe to SFR-Vodafone Live? I note there are all manner of charges listed on their website.
In answer to your question - you dont actually have to subscribe just have a WAP enabled phone adn have WAP on your list of available options on your account which I do have. The charges are similar to making a call - so much per minute

A couple of websites which may help you…

Have a look at this link which seems to have the GPRS settings for all the French networks:

http://www.sebsite.org/article.php3?id_article=86

Alternatively, try this on the Nokia.com (not .UK website)   http://www.nokia.com

Select the link for “support and software…” http://www.nokia.com/nokia/0,,70,00.html

You then choose your country – this is the link for the UK support site (as my French isn’t good enough to go much further on the French one!)   http://www.nokia.co.uk/nokia/0,8764,18122,00.html

Then select “Settings for MMS / WAP / GPRS / email / internet”   http://www.nokia.co.uk/nokia/0,,54551,00.html

Then select the “Settings wizard” for 6600 and 7610   http://www.nokia.co.uk/nokia/0,,60329,00.html

And choose your phone.  There are two files to download to your PC.  It looks like you will have to copy the application from your PC to the phone by data cable, Bluetooth or infra-red.

If neither of the above helps – is there a mobile phone shop which sells the SFR network near you?  I’m sure they’d be able to tell you the settings you need.

Could I ask a related question?

I have a Sharp phone which was tied to SFR and has Vodaphone Live installed.  However, I had it unlocked because Orange gives better coverage in my area.  Is it possible still to use Vodaphone Live (I haven't found a way to do it) - or is that a silly question?
