Great Dane Rescue

Recommended Posts

Hello, I have just discovered this forum and wanted to say hello to everyone. I have been in France for 2 years now and arrived with my three Danes, all of whom came form Daneline in Bristol. We were a foster family with them for over 10 years , an dare now doing the same for Phoenix Rescue, however my heart still lies with the big fellars and we now have 16 acres and as we work from home, the time to continue that work here. If anybody knows of a Dane in need of support/re-homing or advice I would be more than happy to help if I can. I am based in the Northern Dordogne near Nontron. I hope this is helpful to people. Kind regards.

Welcome to the Forum, DinF.

I rescued a dog from this Forum and so have many others.  Have a look at the animal rescue thread (cut and paste below) that you posted on and you will see many success stories.

Welcome to the forum DanesInFrance.   [:)]

We are Dane lovers on here, Anne being the "Dane specialist".  As you probably saw, she recently offered a home to the beautiful Connie.

Here are the French Dane rescue sites if you don't already know them:

Dogue Allemand Nôtre

Dogues Allemands sans Famille

Rescue Dogue

If we hear of a Dane in need we shall let you know!  Would love to see some photos of yours.

Some years ago I had two Danes - wonderful gentle creatures without a shadow of doubt. My parents still have them and I have a dear friend in Sud France who has 18 of them - she does breed for showing though!! Has many a champion amongst her collection too.

Hi DanesInFrance and welcome to the forum

Christine is being kind when she says I am a Dane specialist.  I just can't resist them, that's all.[:D].

I hear of Daneline in Bristol from time to time on Sully's forum. The first Dane I was ever acquainted with lived in Bristol.  Forgotten his name now (more than 30 years ago) but I think it was something really imaginative like Ben or Rex.  He belonged to some people who were members of our RAF sub-aqua club and he sometimes joined us, not underwater of course,[:P] when we did shore dives.  He was a lovely, gentle big fawn with cloth ears.  I vaguely remember going on a dog walk with them on a moor somewhere.  He took off after a rabbit and then the weather closed in, fog came down and it began to drizzle.  I can still hear the four of us calling his name, and the sound echo-ing in the fog.  He kept us there several hours before deciding to come back by which time it was almost dark and we were not sure how to find the car.  Ah well, it all worked out and we survived the experience and when we had a chance at a Dane a year or two later, we remembered him and went for it and have never regretted it.

Well done for rescuing 3 Danes and for helping out with Phoenix.  They do fantastic work.  I hope to hear more of you.
