Good home here for a setter.

Recommended Posts

We already have two rescued English setters whom we adore.. they own us really...but we've just lost the opportunity of being able to rescue a youngish red setter and our dogs are disappointed!!!

Unfortunately we live in the UK (maison secondaire in Normandy) so need to have a dog with a valid passport.

This is just a wee note to tell anyone just in case you hear of a setter needing a home.

Of course and in the awful snow like now.  I shall never forget what you did for Brasco.   [kiss]

Brasco's photos have disappeared from the first page of the thread, don't know what the Collie ones are.

If anyone has a Setter for lovely Amanda, he will have a most marvellous home.

What about contacting Phoenix?  They might know of one?

http://www.phoenixasso.com/

or trying the Second Chance site and doing a search for English Setters - no doubt there are many looking for homes!  Some may have pet passports.

Good luck!

I see there is an 8 year old Gordon Setter (apparently with a passport - I checked - he looks lovely!) looking for a home on the Rescue site:

(There are other setters looking for homes on this site too.)

Bonne chance

Hi Amanda, I am sorry to bother you, but I just wondered if you are still looking for a red setter that needs re-homing with the correct paperwork. I have two gorgeous red setter boys, brothers aged nearly 16 months - Dylan and Finn. We live in the Alsace they have had all the appropriate injections/paperwork to travel to UK. My husband has developed severe Asthma, needed inhaler and daily treatment over the last 12 months. It has just been discovered that he is severly allergic to dogs and cats. It will break our hearts to see them go, but I am looking for a lovely home for them, with lots of love and attention. I read your note and I wondered if you were still looking. Please let me know. Thanks Louise

I guess Amanda isn't logging on at the moment but I seem to remember that she is in the process of adopting a gordon setter called Tony whose elderly owner was no longer able to cope.  He was being fostered here while his UK passport is sorted.  I know she responded to the posts about Alex but was unable to consider having him as her adoption of Tony was ongoing.  In the thread about Alex there were a couple of kind families in the UK who were hoping to offer him a home but he turned out to be too sick. If you check out the thread   http://www.completefrance.com/cs/forums/2390093/ShowPost.aspx  and contact them, maybe they would be able to help.  In fact maybe it would be a good idea to start a new thread for Dylan and Finn - something on the lines of  'Two passported young setters need new homes"?

Yipeeeee!! Managed to get on line...at last! Sorry guys! Computer rage an' all that!

Anyway, thank you for thinking about us for the 2 lovely red setters but unfortunately we have already promised to take a setter from this site...just awaiting the pet passport process to be completed in June. OH has already been sorting out purchasing a larger car for the 3 dogs we will then have ...so, as a friend has suggested, do we start now looking for a horse-box to transport all these dogs I want to rescue????

Val, that's a great idea you have as there were several people who offered a home to the other setter who were living in the UK. One in Blackheath and one in Wales(if my memory serves me right?!). I'll see if I can dig out their addresses.

Also agree that it would be better if a new thread was started specifically for these red setters with the previous posting that was written about them.

Could admin sort that I wonder??
