However if i manage to buy one over the internet on french ebay.If i can transfer my insurance onto new car,how long can i drive it before registering to my name. so that i could drive it to cahors.also would it be posible to bring back to uk and be legal. many thanks in anticipation Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Teamedup Posted August 4, 2005 Share Posted August 4, 2005 You just call your insurers and tell the all the details of the new car and they will send you or you could call in and collect the new insurance form if you have a local office. I think that you would need to have it registered properly if taking it out of the country, but that isn't hard. I'd ring first just to check what paperwork I'd need to take in and their opening hours, but call in at your prefecture and they will do the new carte grise there and then if it is a car bought in France.
