IAN_S
I asked a question in a previous thread but it was not answered, so here it is again as I need to know. The AA site appears to only recommend a spare bulb kit for France and I had always thought it was compulsory. Is it?Is there any difference between Foreign/French registered cars in this respect?
P
Is it a little acaedemic whether a spare bulb kit is recommended or compulsory - perhaps best to carry one even if it is not recommended or compulsory.
Babnik
if you are stopped by the gendarmes and have a blown bulb, if you do not have a kit, you'll be fined, if you do, no problem. I doubt they'll check if you have a kit or not if your lights are all ok! (I speak from personal experience!)
SVP!
however I find that on some modern cars it's no longer possible to change a bulb at the roadside or even at home. Last year I had to take my car (Reanult Clio) to the garage where at one point there where 3 technicians stood around the car wondering how to get to the lamp unit. The cost of the labour was more then the bulb. Would this reasoning work with the gendarmes, maybe not so this posting has prompted me to go out and buy all the kit needed. Anton Redman
Cynical man that I am the reasoning which works with the Gendarmes is that you have a Kit so they can neither fine you or sell you an expensive kit they happen to have with them.
