I have brought my Triumph Thunderbird 900 made in 1996 to France and want to register it here. Before bringing it to France I wrote to Triumph UK and asked how I could obtain a Certificate of Conformitie and the gave me the address of Triumph France so that I could find out what I needed to do to get the said certificate. I wrote to them (in French) with no result. Does anyone know another way of obtaining the certificate?

The easiest way would be to find a dealer in your area (if there is

one). Take it there with your registration documents and the ever

requested passport. They will get the Certificate of Conformity from

their Head Office, probably for around 150 euros. Try searching the

French Yellow Pages on the internet , www.pagesjaunes.fr.

As your bike is pre 2003, it won't qualify for a certificate of conformity, so this might be confusing them a bit (it's all semantics, really).

What you need to ask for is an attestation de conformite, which is a document which certifies that your model of bike conforms with French national type approval.

You can only obtain it from their French head office, so you need to write again or telephone them to chase them up:
