I bought a car from a french chap for use a a donor vehicle for spares

but with only a few minor mods., new brake pads etc. it has now passed

a controle technique and is in better condition than my old car. I

would like to get this registered however the certificate de cession

certifies "vehicule est destine a la destruction" and the Carte gris is

annotated  " vendu en l'etat". is ther any way I can get it

registered again. It is really far too good to scrap.

TIA for information.

I have a certificate de cession  'exemplaire destine a

l'acquereur' and I am not certain whether this signifies that the

original has been sent to the Prefecture - If the original has been

sent, does this mean that I will be unable to re-register the vehicle

even with a currenrt CT ?.

Alternatievely is there a typically french 'fix' for the situation?

You could try asking your Mairie, or local garage man, they're normally quite good on this sort of stuff. I'm sure it's possible, just not sure how. Just don't expect it to happen terribly quickly! What is is anyway that you've managed to bring back from the brink of certain death?

I gave away on old car for spares and sent the carte grise back to the préfecture.

The new owner decided to put the car back on the road and, as far as I know, had to obtain a new certificate of conformity (he asked for the one I originally had for the vehicle, but balked when I mentioned I had paid for it!), as well as a new CT.

Through some unfortunate misunderstanding, the préfecture sent us (as registered owners on the old carte grise) the batch of paper work he was required to complete as new owner... As I had already spent a lot of time dealing with this on his behalf, I juts filed it in the bin and left it there...
