  1. Anyone know how easy this is to do ? I understand that its just coarse sand but have no clue if there is anything else to it. If I get this done then I think I shall have got the better of this pool buisness. Thanks
  2. Hi there, Cahors night markets are 19th July and 9th August this year. Hope you can make it !
  3. While I am definitely not an expert on pools (ours is still green since opening after winter and will now have to go the empty and refill route !) I can offer some advice. If its stating the obvious then I am sorry but I know pools are very difficult ! Once you have put chlorine pastilles in its important to check the levels every day, every morning and night is even better. Then you will get a feel for how the levels behave, particularly when you are topping up the water at the same time. If the chlorine levels rise, then just take the pastilles out and leave them on one side until the levels drop again. Never forget to chuck in some anti-algae at least once a week. When using pH moins or pH plus, make sure you dissolve it in some pool water first and distribute around the pool. And, after this years problems....dont forget to use the hivernage when you close the pool, and try not to close it when the water is still very warm. Otherwise you will still have a green pool at the end of June ! Good Luck !
  4. Hi there. You should have a look at your insurance before undertaking this yourself. We must have all our chimneys certified that they have been swept in order to comply. If we have them all cleaned at once he charges 60 each.
  5. I agree Richard, they are excellent. I have just finished "le Compte de Monte Cristo" and have thoroughly enjoyed it. There is a foreign language bookshop in London, Grant & Cutler in Great Marlborough St. This was a tip from another forum and is well worth a visit ( I did not know it existed and have worked in London for 18 years !!) "readers" are a great way to enjoy learning French. It makes such a difference when you can actually read a story properly without having to look things up all the time. Well it works for me anyway.
  6. Never mind Mr Wogan, what about me ? I found out last week when trying to book flights. I am now blessed with lots of AF airmiles and nowhere to fly to. It seems they now do a Gatwick Bordeaux route which I have never noticed before. I am surprised by the cut in the route though as Toulouse is popular. The flight was always full. I think it may have something to do with it being operated by Flybe. Anyway, BA still goes there and is still much cheaper than any of the "cheap" airlines so all is not lost !
  7. Its a great book. I read the US version some time ago. We have visited the restaurant numerous times. It very good. A word of warning though : when you read this you will be desparate to try the lobster ravioli !! Michael is now researching for his next book about the wine growers in the Lot region.
  8. I understand there is a "wealth tax" which applies to non residents as well as residents. This will include property. I believe it is levied on value above 720,000 at 55bp. Anyone know if this is correct ? thanks in advance daytona
