Just like to say a big thank you for all your help, as i see it our choices are. 1 Wait until we are both retired to obtain free health cover. 2 If we moved now we could use E106 for 2 and half years then buy cover up 5 years then obtain free cover. 3 Buy now but only use the house for a short period and use EHIC cover in UK I see that you have to pay social charges do you still pay this if you do not live in the house all year or does it come with purcasing a property?   2. Many thanks for all your comments one more question that has been put to me. Is there some rule that if you buy a house in France but only visit for 90 days at a time you can still use the NHS in the UK at the same time are able to use the EHIC in France? Thanks again
  3. Hi, Yes, we will have about 10k coming in from interest and private pension and an amount under the bed to dip into for a top-up. So it looks like we either wait another 10 years for retirement or pay into the French system, some of the replies quote 2k would that be each or for both of us? One other thing do you know what the social charges are please do you still pay these when retired? Regards Steve
  4. Hi, we want to relocate to France are under retirement age, non workers and plan to live off capital/pension funds, Can someone answer a couple of questions please? Do we have to pay into the French health system, our income will be under 10k betwen us? Can we still go back to the UK for free health care using the EHIC? Thanking you in advance
