1. Hi Club 620, Fontiers Caberdes between Carcasonne and Mazamet Group playing French music named Les Traites A good night out if you're at a loose end or bored with the football. David
2. Thanks for your swift answer. Married and both residing in the UK 19 years. House in her name but signed Tontine agreement at purchase as I have a daughter from a previous relationship. Divorcing in UK (Had Nici already - holding on Absolute til this is sorted) Think I can see where the divorce is going, but wifey has told the Mayor that the house is hers, and he has told her I can't enter the property without her authorisation. I believe that in taking out the Tontine clasue at purchase, even though the deeds are in her name, it is actually in contract to both of us . . . Complicated! D
3. It's funny, but when I accidently moved to Peckham 6 months ago I expected to find the odd Del Boy and housing called Nelson Mandella House,  but he would look as out of place as me here being a white anglo saxon type Englishman! They seem to have come up with a nice racial compromise here for the world cup, flying the Cross of St George from one car window with the flag of their root nation from the other. Part of me hopes they don't do this because they feel they have to! David
4. Just finished it . . .a good read, specially for anyone with connections to the Carcasonne area.. David
5. It's not the coming that's the propblem. . .it's the going. Visa's are a legal way of telling you when your stay has been outwelcomed. Try marrying a non UK visa national and then trying to travel with said spouse on a regular basis to you French holiday home from the UK! D
6. It's a while since I read it, but I remember wondering why I was bothering at the time. Some books are just annyoying. I just left an Ian McEwen (sp?) Book called Saturday with about 8 pages left . . . I just don't care how it ends, but I did like the picture on the front as it's taken just outside the office where I'm working at the moment, and apparently the author lives in the house where the book is set, and that is visible from our shop window! Just suffering 'the longest period in 6 years' without a visit to france due to a rather massive change to my domestic arrangements . . .but looking forward to cutting the grass there next weekend . . .bet it's not as warm and sunny as it's been here for the last two weeks ;) David
7. Not sure the reasons why, I don't mind girlie stuff . . .fav movies include You've got Mail, Notting Hill, About a Boy etc . . .but I can tell the difference. . (I'm not gay by the way!) David
8.
Books, worth a repeat read: just the first that come to mind: Any book by John Steinbeck
Except 'The Wayward Bus ' maybe?
9. I think the essense of the problem is that this is a 'girlie' book, one reason I tend to shy away from female writers, as a male reader I just got the 'this is a girlie book' feeling very quickly. That aside, I am enjoying reading it. If Hemmingway had written it, I think it would be about 80 pages long . . . now there's a man's writer! One book I enjoy reading over is 'Sunday' by Georges Simenon. A salutary tale! David
10. And sadly, as it seems in France, It's always somebody elses fault and somebody elses taxes that have to bail out these backward looking   practises. David
11. What I do is park outside and cycle in, can take a couple of hours to clear the town by car after the event. There is a hotel Ibis very close by, or a very cheap and cheerful formula 1 on the route de Narbonne. Try to get invited to supper with someone who lives in Carcasonne and then drive home after the crowds have disipated - around midnight. David
12. No word of a lie, but on my parents first trip to France to visit me, my Mum said 'there seem to be a lot of places called centre ville!'
13.
All the shopping centers here have the Xmas lights up and the Xmas decor out. All those tempting chocolate boxes on display. So far have not seen the Santa's and Reindeer on roofs, but its early yet...
Sorry, nothing to do with France, but I'm sat here scratching my head looking for the pun! David (Aude 11 and Oxfordshire)
14. Ok then, I'll rephrase it! Anyone got anything cheap to rent out this period? Caravan would do!
15. Does anyone know of any Thai people/restaraunts in our area? Thanks David
16. Anyone fancy a houseswap for a few days somewhere between 27th June and 4th July? I have nice 4 bed house in Montagne Noire with garden, no pool, would like a few days near the coast, size not important. David (can supply references)
17. Most US films released in France on DVD seem to have an English Language Audio option on them. However, the French films never seem to have even English subtitle options!I'm not sure how a library would go. I think most permanant residents have sattelite. But then...nothing ventured! David
18. Tridome in Narbonne has a selaction of about 3, not particularly wonderful models. Hobby woodturning doesn't seem to be very high on the list of French passtimes. DB
