  1. Hi There, I have taken helmets on as hand luggage (squeezed into a carry on bag) That was using a budget Czech airline and a few more well known carriers, but we are dealing with Ryanair here! They once charged me for 1 kilo excess baggage! Helmets do fit in overhead lockers.
  2. Hi All, Thnaks for your replies I am changing the address on a couple of things at the moment. When I went to the office last time I took my Passport,Tax Habitation statement and water bill which quite clearly states the address in France but the "helpful" lady said it was not my principal address (why would I pay someone elses Tax and water bill !?) The problem at the moment is I only seem to get to France over weekends when all the offices are closed. The reason I posted this was, awhile ago I used to see adverts in the French mags offering services to help with car reg. and suchlike. Looks like I will just have find the time to finish it off. I have a Fench car with my name and address on the carte grise - does that count as proof of address? Cheers Duncan
  3. Maybe too late - have you tried MotoExpert? Branches all over France and also fitting service. I found them to be very good at the Poitiers Branch
  4. Hi there, Any one know if there are agents you can employ to handle car registrtions? At the moment I have a car and a motorcycle sitting idle in the barn in need of registration. Due to other commitments it is difficult for me to get to France for awhile. The last visit I managed to get a CT on the car but failed to get the quittus fiscal due to lack of douments to prove address (all our utility bills and bank stuff is sent to our UK address) Thanks for your time Regards Duncan
  5. Hi Andy, Don't know how much the operation for a female cat is by any chance ? I am sure my neighbours would contribute as well
  6. Hello, We had 3 stray cats turn up in our commune (dept.79) last year. Charming little buggers, and they are no bother. However the female has just had 2 kittens, and I don't want the population getting out of control. Does anyone know if the animal charities provide reduced cost vet services as I can see a neutering program is needed. I don't think our local vet would help as I took an injured little cat to him that I found in the road and he charged me 50 euros to put the poor thing to sleep ! Any suggestions welcome. Many thanks
  7. Good point Ron but most of them have been here for more then 6 months ,Where my mate lives there are at least 5 cars from Eastern Europe that have been in his street for the last 3 years and he knows the guys who own them . I am living in Prague at the moment and I know for a fact there are people from all over the EU working here long term(+ 6 months) and have their cars with them on their home plates. Sorry not trying to justify not registering your car and complying with the rules though. Cheers Duncan
  8. How may foreign cars in the UK are in the same situation, with the mass influx of workers from Eastern Europe I have noticed loads of cars that obviously are not tourists - I can't see anyone driving back to Poland or Lithuania to get an MOT or renew their road tax !
  9. Hi Anton, It's a (not so) Rapide 1988 - thanks I will check the links.
  10. Hello, I am new to the forum. We have a small cottage in 79 Currently I am living in Prague but are due to move back to the UK soon. I want to bring my old Skoda over to France and register it there, do you know if the prefecture needs the original Czech registration document translated into French? (Czech language is horribly complex and bears no resemblence to French or English !) Also does anyone know if the old rear engined commie Skodas were officially imported into France? As I was wondering if I could get a type approval certificate from DRIRE rather than going through Skoda. Thanks in advance for your help Regards Duncan
