For those who may be interested in a college/lycee with an international section. Grand Air in La Baule is having their open morning on Saturday 25th March. You can read about the school on their website site. La Baule is in the Loire Atlantique, just above Saint Nazaire; It is a state run french school with additional studies in English for those wishing to take the OIB. Please email me if you want further information.

Hi
We bought a digibox off ebay around 2 years ago and all has been fine until last week. The satelitte signal became erratic we have not had a good reception since, always pixels stopping and starting. We thought the dish had moved slightly and had it checked, not the case as a friend came around with another digibox and the reception was fine. Do they have a lifespan or is there a problem that can be fixed?
OK, so it is a good thing that your doctor is likely ignoring french law when TB is on the increase???? The school doctors should pick up on this anyway. At least I hope that they do as they give a te...
Hi Teamed Up
Just to update, my daughter had her medical last week and the doctor sent a note saying she needed her D.T.and POlio and her BCG, her D.T.& Polio are uptodate as per the UK health book with a requirement for a booster age 15-18, so will check with the Doc, when I will once again ask for the BCG.
Will be interesting to see of the school doctor follows up his recommendations.

Hi,
Sorry should have explained better, yes its for vets fees etc for my dog should she become ill or have an accident.
I believe my household insurance does cover for if my dog injures or damages something or other.
Lollie, please please tell me exactly where the loi is written that the BCG is no longer obligatoire. Because I would love to know.
Hi Teamed Up
I did not say it was written anywhere, my Doctor said it was not necessary, and he seems a switched on kinda guy! Both the schools my children attend are aware they have not had the BCG and have not insisted on it. So see no reason not to believe him. However, the risk of BCG seems to have increased in the UK recently and as we visit once a year I may ask that they have it anyway at some point.
As said in my previous note it does appear to change region to region. So suggest persons check with their own doctor. Sorry I cannot help any further.

My eldest had his TB before we arrived, but the younger two had not. As one approached 12 I took him to our Doctor here and asked for the jab. He said it is no longer necessary here, but insisted on the whooping cough jab? it seems different it each region. The schools asked for a copy of the jabs already had, I just photocopied the page in the red book.
I would asked at registered Doctors if the schools do not ask for it.
Good Luck
Hi, I know this is little off subject, but I have heard of schools offering the international bac, as I understand it the nearest one to me is in Brittany, I live in Mayenne Dept 53, does anyone know...
Hi,
We too have one here in La Baule, college and lycee with a 4 day boarding option from 4eme. Basically as explained it is a state school with additional lessons in English and the Brevet Int and BAC Int is taken. I am on the Association at this school and would be happy to answer any questions. It is predominantly french children wishing to excel in English but as it grows we get more children whose parents have worked abroad and have returned here to France so their children have english and want to continue, and children whose parents have moved here to france; A FLE course is offered for the non french speaking children. Fees, a bargain I think and less than 145 euros per year!!! non boarding of course.

Did the E5 less than a week ago, unfortunately there was a terrible accident so was at a standstill for over an hour, Biarritz-Bordeaux in over 3hours, very boring but grateful we had set off ten minutes later; Personally I think the Rennes to Redon road is very boring, but that might be because my husband takes us up it lots to play cricket in Dol!!

We recently travelled to spain and as well as our E111 cards I got additional insurance thru www.worldwideinsure.com who do cover for EU residents travelling to another EU country. Hope this helps.

Pleasantly surprised by Ryanair
in Travelling to/from France
Posted
A friend of mine travelled recently from Nantes airport with Ryanair and the lady at check in was quite rude, she complained to Ryanair, who in turn said that ground staff in many airports outside of the UK are not employed by Ryanair but are outsourced to a private company. She in turn spoke to the relevant company. She also asked them how the new system would work and they said they had heard of ryanairs plans but were unsure how this would happen as it is not their staff checking in and providing the security at the airports . If you think about this logically this maybe able to happen in airports with ryanair ground staff but others it will not be possible. You will still have to queue to hand over your luggage and go through airport security and passport control.
Will be interesting to see what happens.
