  1. Hi NormanH,

Yes, that's correct, as part of the "family experience".............although in practice we'd be lucky to get chance to have a bit of toast and a quick cuppa and it would certainly be a long breakfast for us as we serve from 8am- 9.30am !!

And our guests can come down to eat any time between those times.

Hope the season has gone well for everyone.

    Kind Regards Mel.
  2. Hi Val2,

I'm confused..............we provide breakfast in the Chambres D'Hote as part of the "contract" ?

Should we not be feeding our guests at breakfast or is it the "type" of breakfast ?

    Thanks Mel.

    Anglo-Info information site.............

    Chambre d'Hôte

A chambre d'hôte may have no more than five bedrooms and accommodate at most 15 guests. It offers:

    Furnished accommodation

With linen provided, and the room cleaned

    On a night-by night basis

With breakfast included in the price

  3. Hi AnOther,

Just to let you know you can use AE for Chambres D'Hotes.......we do it and it's ideal for this, but take all the points about the diversity of the OP plans and the number of adults it would need to support as AE only registers one person as far as i'm aware.

    Regards Mel.
  4. Hi,

Don't know if this is of any use, but we opened up our Chambres D'Hotes this year with 3 rooms, as far as i'm aware if you go above 5 rooms thats when you get into the realms of "hotel" stuff, fire alarms, escape plans, fire extinguishers etc etc.

We opened this year with only our main staircase as a route out (but all full length escape windows upstairs) smoke detectors (not required as far as i know) and a quick inspection from the tourist board.

    Regards Mel.
  5. Hi FrankG28,

Just a word of caution about the Chambres D'Hotes making enough to "keep" you all.

We opened our B&B this year and luckily have had many more bookings than originally thought for our first year but can only anticipate it making an income for about 6-7 months at the maximum.

There are only two of us to consider "feed, cloth, pay utilities, pay annual taxes, etc, etc"

We may have to return to the uk for a couple of months to do some agency work in order to tide us over the winter and then see if next year brings anywhere near a viable income to maintain us over here.

Having said that our 8 months over here so far have been great and wouldn't have missed opening this year for the world.

Everyone has been so supportive and helpful..............especially our Marie.

so we'll wish you all the best and very good luck.

Hope it all goes well for you.

    Kind Regards Mel.
  6. Hi,

We did the same as clair, but bought cheap (but nice looking) soap dispensers from local "Eco-gem" for both showers and hand soaps. We re-fill with liquid soap of a good quality.

Guests so far have loved it..............no mess.......no fuss.

    Best wishes Mel.
  7. Hi zitajayne,

Ignored the "advertising" on advice and have signed up with "net-entreprise" to pay all our tax and cotisations on line.

Good luck and if you find out any more info please let me know.

    Best wishes Mel.
  8. Hi Albert (TIG),

Read your thread with interest and it looks as if it will be the end of october, going to register with "net-entreprise" today so might find they send me some info about the first payment ?

    Thanks for all the info.

    Kind Regards Mel.
  9. Thanks Judie and Eurotrash,

All sounds very straightforward, going to register with "net enterprise" tomorrow and been told it usually takes 48 hours for the registration to come through from them on-line.

Many thanks for the prompt replies and info, much appreciated.

    Mel.
  10. Hi all,

We registered our Chambres D'Hotes this year under the AE scheme from the first May.

As it's coming to the end of July I think we will have to submit our first income declaration (quarterly), we have looked at "Net- entreprise" to do it on-line.

Has anyone got experience of doing it this way ?

How will we know how much to pay ?

If we don't do it on-line will they automatically send us a bill or form to complete ?

Hope someone is able to offer some information and help with this.

    Thank you for now.

    Kind Regards Mel.

  11. Yep.................£5.93 an hour. Soon to go up to just over £6.00

Think i'd work for 9 euro an hour as a cleaner in France...............it's more than I get an hour running our Chambres D'Hote when everything is taken into account !!

Not complaining though I don't have to travel to work !!

    Mel.
  12. Hi all,

Thank you all very much for the replies and information.

Found exactly what I needed thanks to the detailed replies................and have found a supurb plumber who came out this afternoon (responded to my sounds of desperation no doubt !!) and has done the repair for me so it's all working really well again.

    Thanks all.

    Bon Fete Nationale
  13. Hi all,

Hope someone can advise me I'm really thick when it comes to plumbing, we have had to take off our shower "faucet" off (if thats what its called, the bit that attaches to the wall to control water and temperature)

We need to "cap" this off for a while without putting the shower "thingy" back on until I can get a plumber to come and have a look. (Anyone know of a good one in the Bellac area 87 ?)

Can I buy shut off valves that will attach to each outlet, they are a "standard" fitting of about 2.5cm wide, internal about 2cm (hot and cold water) and if so what are they called ?

I hope I've explained fully enough for someone to understand and any information will be greatfully appreciated.

    Thank you

    Kind Regards Mel.
  14. Hi,

I suppose much of it is down to personal choice as to whether you want a completely "natural look" with wax and polish ...........but in my experience does not wear as well as the last time we did our floors with parquet vitrificeur. (not sure if that's how you spell it)

We chose a satin finish (in-colore which looks very natural) for our hallways staircase and living room floors and 3 years on has not scratched worn or faded and we do have some very heavy traffic as we are a Chambres D'Hotes.

We used "BOSILOR PARQUET" for heavy traffic.

Hope you can find something suitable and that you're happy with.

    Kind Regards Mel.
  15. Hi Katre60,

Just to be on the safe side, maybe in light of idun's post it would be better to get a recommendation then, hope you can find someone on the forum to pass on some details to you for the local area you live.

    Good luck with it all

    Kind Regards Mel.
  16. Hi Katre60,

In my experience most french vets have experience of the pet passport scheme so language is not really a barrier. You just need to double check the dates etc to make sure its been filled in for the correct visit !!!

Is it just the Tic & Flea treatment you need doing or the "full monty" ?

    Good Luck Mel.
  17. Hi Poppet,

We did our on-line registration for A.E. with the help of this lady.

She goes through each step and during the "how to register as an A.E. video" tells you where to find what "title" to put on your registration form.

Hope it's of use to you.

    Kind Regards Mel.
