  1. Hi Everyone Was wondering if someone has had any experience of applying for exemption from Taxe Fonciere on grounds of age, From what I can gather, one is exempted from payment of the taxe if over 75 years of age. However it appears that it is up to the local tax office whether or not to grant this exemption. All very complicated it seems. Has anyone on this forum applied for exemption and if so, how does one start the ball rolling in applying for it?
  2. Thanks for your reply. It is highly unlikely that I'll be staying at the property anytime in the future. The intention is to put it up for sale within the 6 months. In such an event, do you think it be more advisable to ask Lyonnaise to simply shut off supply and leave it for the new owner to connect up? Also as far as you know, is any charge made for shutting off the supply?
  3. Has anyone experience of dealing with Lyonnaise des Eaux on the matter of water rates for unoccupied properties? Due to illness, I had to return to the UK so as to have access to my GP and local hospital. My house in Nontron which comes under Bordeaux /Guyenne region of the company has now been unoccupied for the last 3 years. I'm at a loss as to how much I'm actually liable to pay for an unoccupied property and getting little help or clarification from the water company. Has anyone who's had a similar experience give some advice and clarification as to my rights and liabilities?
  4. Hi all [:)], I need to make a return trip to the UK sometime around the end of May/early June. I live 30 S.W. of Angouleme and would normally use Ryanair. This used to be a doddle as airport parking was free, but now my only option is Limoges which as most of you will know, with parking charges at 3 times the cost of a return ticket (around €80 for the two weeks [8-)] ) seem bizarre to say the least. Does anyone have a solution to the problem? I've looked on Google and it appears that the nearby Bellegarde village is just over 1 km from the airport and thus within walking distance. Has anyone parked there for the trip to the UK? Is there a car-park in the village? I could also park the car in Vernueil-sur-Vienne but don't know if there there's a bus service to Bellegarde (village or airport) and if so, how often buses run. If there's no bus service, at around 5-7 Km for the journey, can anyone hazard a guess at what the taxi fare would be? Alternatively, is anyone travelling to the UK by car around the same date (my travelling date is quite flexible) who'd be willing to take an extra passenger for a share of the cost? Don't have much by way of luggage. In the UK, drop off could be anywhere along the route from the port to London or (eventual destination) Norwich. Over in France, you could be located anywhere within a 75-100 mile radius of Angouleme whereby providing I can park the car, I could drive over to you.
  5. I'm looking for a lift to the UK and back sometime towards the latter half of April 09, returning around mid-May in return for share in motoring costs. I live midway between Angouleme and Limoges, but have transport, so can make the trip to the host's address, providing I can leave the car there for the duration of the trip. Alternatively we could meet up at Mantes la Jolie (40km NW Paris) in which case I can store my car at my friends there. At the UK end, London is fine, but Norwich/Norfolk would be the absolute biz. Have clean license and accident free record, so can do share of driving if needed. You can contact me through these pages. Post edited by the moderators.
