Very interesting link.

All my bedrooms have a height of 1.75M, I know this because I had to measure them for curtains and the top of the windows and patio doors are at 1.7M. Does that mean I should claim a tax rebate as they are not classed as habitable?

What about cabins, when we looked at some for the possibility of creating chalets in the garden their ceiling height was less than 1.8M. I wonder if that also means you would not have to pay tax on them?

Could a 'sly' person put in false ceilings to drop the height and save money?

Is there a minimum height for ceilings when building and would this by chance be 1.8M? If so it would be interesting to know the year that figure became law, just for my own peace of mind.

I am not doubting what the link says at all but it does make one wonder. Anything to save money. [;-)]

The answer is a very definite NO.

In fact, reductio ad absurdum, if you put in an intermediate floor reducing the height to 1.75/2 metres then the taxe foncière applicable to the modified area would double. This, of course takes into consideration that neither a Permis de construire or a Déclaration préalable would apply thus eliminating any relevance of the 1.8 metre rule.

The application by the Hôtel des Impôts of a factor of 60% of the floor area for the calculation of the H1 adjustment to your dwelling subsequent to the completion of works is ONLY applicable to an "aménagement des combles", not relevant in the case of your reductio ad absurdum modification.

  2. French Centrist voters generally seem to be reasonable chaps without the pronounced ideological patine of the right and left.

So although a political stance by Bayrou would herald a pariod of forced purgatory, a MORAL stance which singularly emphasised the lying opportunist immorality of the dwarf as he moves gently towards fascism could be the advent of a rejuvenated centrist moral influence on french politics for the future.

    Edit: 10:48 [;-)]

  3. Bayrou is a centrist and consigning his voters to the left OR the right would be political suicide. The numerics of his supporters on this occasion are simple; hollande does not need his votes and for sarkozy there are not enough votes to make up the difference.

The choices for marine le pen is complex as she has a very heterogenous band of followers and this makes the consignment of her votes difficult. There do exist options of a very radical nature that would give her the possibility of consigning the majority of her votes; frankly I dont think she has the bottle to choose any of them.

Perhaps france will be surprised by her jeanne d'arc bash on the 1st of may.

P.S. Did you see the cop cars from bobingy blocking the champs élysées.

  4. I remember once walking back along Carlos Pellegrini, the enormous central avenue in Buenos Aires, to the office with a group of americans after lunching at the American Club. When all of a sudde one of them was bowled over and relieved of his genuine watch.

I have never had any problems with any of my Rolex watches, only fault is that the batteries do not last very long.

Nowadays i rarely wear a Rolex Oyster Perpetual....they are soOO common...I much prefer a Breitling....adds a touch of class.

All the 380 pilots have them...Just ask Chef Fluffy![:P]

  5. I hate Ebay![:)]

    I luv BonCoin![:D]

Picked up a real bargain from an electronic boutique on a stock reduction exercise recently.

Three pairs of active Samsung infra-red 3D TV spectacles; still in their unopened boxes.

    Price €60 + €7 collissimo.

Price in local HyperU  3x79; yes thats right €237.[:-))]

Earlier got another pair from a lady in Haute Savoie at €20 + frais de port.

So now ready with 5 pairs for the European Cup and Olympics on German satellite TV.

If you see something good, get your offer in immediately; if something has been around for a while or readvertised then a Dutch Auction bid is worth a try.

  6. Afraid I am a bit sentimental about the Romahome as it has given faithful service, perhaps overloaded sometimes with 4 metre bastaings & madriers.

Be sorry to part company, anyway the shocks and mountings et al will finally decide the issue one way or the other.

I'll check with the mécano at Dekra as to the real suspension situation this week accompanied by the Haynes Manual diagrams.

  7. Of course, renocal is popular in deux sèvres due to its promotion by the large Calcia Italcementi operation at Airvault.

But any company producing chaux products with an italian background is bound to be good.

Renocal is a good product for inexperienced artisans and amateur chaux enthusiasts and will give good to excellent results even for a neophyte.

Depending on use I will use products produced by Calcia, Lafarge and St Astier as suitable.

I have just completed some 100 m2 of internal pointing and enduit in a 17th century barn and for this I used exclusively a St Astier Tradilege Natural Hydraulic Chaux mainly because at Leclerc in parthenay it was almost € 4 a pocket cheaper than similar products from Calcia and Lafarge.

As to colour there are two possibilities, one to add a natural earth colorant to the mix when the colour of the sand is of little effect or to lift the "laitance" gently from the surface just before the initial "prise", either with a soft brush or a sponge, to reveal the natural colour of the sand contained in the mix.

Sand colours will depend on the local supply but for example, sand from la loire is light coloured, sand from la vienne is slightly yellower, sand from the cher is beginning to have a slight reddish tinge. A sand with a granulometric size range les than 2mm will be more amenable to a common 2-4mm size range. Do not use under any circumstances that which is called a "sharp" sand.

I thought the following link interesting

    http://elections.lefigaro.fr/flash-presidentielle/2012/04/23/97006-20120423FILWWW00385-58-de-votes-d-adhesion-pour-sarkozy.php

Anyway they (Le Figaro) seem to think Sarkozy will get around 58% of the vote.
I am now just starting to understand why in an earlier thread you stated categorically in reply to a post of mine that of course sarkozy will win.

In this thread your rationale is impeccable in using a 58% "vote d'adhesion" by sarko voters in the first round, as the basis for a prediction for a 58% sarko vote in the second round.

    I rest my case.
Your not reading it right. I am repeating what Le Figaro said in that for the second round Sarkozy will win by 58%. My 'gut feeling' is that this will be a replay of 2002 and Chirac. If it follows the course then Sarkozy will be out at the next election because people will have worked out he only said all this stuff to get the vote then did nothing. Since Sarkozy started all this stuff on immigrants etc you could see who he was aiming at should he get through to the next stage based on the fact that Le Penn would not get through. This is why I predicted that he would win.
I have read the article referenced in the link and entitled..

58% de votes d'adhésion pour Sarkozy

...and can find no mention of the deuxième tour.

Please post the Le Figaro link to the second round prediction.

  9.
Some info HERE
Thanks a lot more info than on the french Visa forums.

Have bookmarked. Looks horrendous. The Dutch bloke certainly gets points for resourcefulness.

Seems incredible that the tool is no longer supplied by Citroën as they made the C15 up to i think 2010 in france.

I wonder if the dutchman is still alive and fitting shocks.

  10. I eventually got pished orf and switched to BFM, there they have a link with two contenders so it stays under objective control.

But back to TF1, amongst the men I cant stand Juppy and Copey, however with the women I thought Ségo & Duflow were polite and OK. But the UMP trio exemplified brutish coarse ill mannered loutesses, I refer of course to Paycress, Moran and kocsucu-morizet who is my particular bête noire.

The midget in his swansong address to the meeting of his 58% "votes d'adhesion" demanded THREE DEBATES; completely pointless it would just upset potential voters due to his lack of culture and ill manners, pov kon,; anyway he has had a whole Quinquinat to explain himself ineffectively.

  12. C15 E  failed CT on thursday with 2 months to fix.

    Phare gauche...no problem.

    Essuie glace...no problem.

Flector de direction....probably not too difficult...spare available in portugal.

Correcteur de freinage.....reputedly leaking...presume requires replacement.

Amortisseurs arrières...this one scares me more than a bit....horizontal with strong springs...got two hooked compressors that work fine on mcpherson struts...dont think they will work...Haynes quotes a citroën service tool.

Thinking of chancer but any suggestions welcome and which is better oil or gas; local Citroën agent who presumably has the tool or the local MaxAuto.

The website below is quite good and has been recommended by many in the past. Just type in your phone number (and address, more fields appear automatically for this as you enter the information) and it will tell you if your degrouped or not. It will also tell you what speed you may get and who offers what services.

Tried site above with my phone number but it does NOT include an offer from FREE, so not much use to me as I was thinking of changing to FREE so that I could benefit from their free (no capitals) mobile call offer of 60 minutes per month and also some SMSs.

  14. Although there has been a well publicised campaign to tether the TV channels reports until after the 20:00 deadline, some media sources seem to have found a "loophole" by inviting readers to record the candidate for whom they have voted.

An example is 20Minutes; the recorded votes is NOT a "sondage" of course but has already by midday had many more participants than the usual structured opinion polls.

Not happy reading for those who have publicly stated on the forum.."Of course sarko will win...[:P]

At midday a total participation of 28.89%

Looks like Francois Hollande V Marine Le Pen run-off in the second round then.[:)]

You could have simply said "Tethering is a modern term for using you mobile phone as a modem" rather than use three different terms some of which you have use twice for the same thing. Alternatively you could have given a link to a website that explains it in simple terms like (after a quick google) ......

    http://mobileoffice.about.com/od/phonesformobileworkers/f/what-is-tethering.htm
Quote from end of link.....

How to tether your cell phone will largely depend on your cell phone service provider and your cell phone model.

    End quote.

To the very very very best of my knowledge there are no ISPs/FAIs in france who will contractually permit tethering of a PC at internet data financial charge rates. I would be most obliged to learn from you on this matter in order to upgrade my possibly deficient knowledge base.

Also as follow up in the event of tethering being contractually limited by the T&C of  the internet provider, I would be obliged if you would inform me as to the best way of disguising a tethered PC.
