  1. agreed. I did some French Googling and it seems the question is regularly asked. Cottage cheese in Canada is called ... cheese cottage and in France 'cottage cheese'. A comment was that it is as futile to try and translate cottage cheese as it would be to find a translation for 'ricotta' or 'Wensleydale'. Bonne chance!

  2. well yes! Sometimes my English lets me down. LOL. Anyway, he did get the splinter out - and she was very grateful!

Frenchie, I have followed my guts and heart all my life- and 99% of the time it worked- I have very rarely been let down. But be careful all the same-

take care et bonne chance. xxxx

  3. Our daughter was about 5 when she slid on a wooden bench in a mountain resto during a skiing hol. Just couldn't get the splinter out - imagine the peoples' faces as they say my husband trying to get a splinter out a little girl bum with his teeth on the window sill of the WC! He id get it out eventually. LOL. don't tell her I told you as she is 33 now!

  4. Yes very kind thank you. Well I'll give it a try. Dad was a catholic so we never had meat, or fish (or turtle!!!) - on Fridays.. So I'll make it our meat free day too -

Do you suggest we should use as much coal, gas, petrol as we can, not recycle, or more importantly not generate so much rubbish- lets all go on a wasting spree, and laugh our way into oblivion. Really?

  5. Hand on my heart - it was all his own idea! he is really taking his 'integration duties' very seriously. All the neighbours love him to bits for his enthusiasm à la quiet British style.

I thought you meant how did you persuade him to put you and Cendrillon up!!! I haven't told him about it yet - it will be a surprise. He thinks I am totally nuts for talking to strangers on a forum.  LOL

Odile, it was you, you naughty person who taught that naughty word, "chiffe-molle".  But, thank you for your concern.

You've no idea the naughty things that you have taught me in French.  When I use your naughty words in my French class, even the teacher is nonplussed (or is that a French word as well?)

What is your teacher like??? As a languages teacher I always enjoyed seeing my students use all sort of expressions including popular/slang/cockney/Shakesperian, whatever.  What a shame if you teacher poopoos these!

Have you got over your door emotions! xx
