1. That's just off Place de la Concorde isn't it? ie this one?

     http://france.usembassy.gov/visas.html
    That's the embassy

    The consulate is:

    US Consular Section
    Attention: Visa Services
    18, avenue Gabriel
    75008 Paris

Blow it, might as well ask as many questions as I can.

    What's parking like?

Bad, I took a taxi from the station

How long did you wait for your interview while in the consulate?

    60 minutes

Did they take your paperwork away while they came to the decision?
    Yes

Talking of paperwork, I took my whole social and financial life history with me.

The whole business cost about $700 for the two of us, fees, trains and taxis, so make sure you have a good case for a visa, they often say no.

  2.
What type of visa did you get in order to be able to stay that long? How was the interview and did it take long to get a decision?
B1/B2 Visa

    Interview was short and friendly.

Decision, 30 mins after the interview.

By the way you need to go to the US consulate not the embassy.

    Good luck

    Warning/Advice Atlanta

Depending on which airline and arrival terminal, you may have to board a transit train. This requires another security screening after immigration checks even if you continue your journey by road.

Do not buy any expensive liquids such as drink or perfume, they will be confiscated.

This applied to Air France earlier this year, Delta I do not know but it may have all changed by now.
No, Road Atlanta (last weekend so it would be next year at the earliest.)  I'd rather fly direct from here if poss but have heard mixed reviews, as it were, about Air France.  I only flew with them once and that was to Malta and they were fine (oh and once to Reims from Heathrow but it was company and first class so doesn't really count!) but for a long haul some first hand experience would be interesting.
AirFrance is not ideal, in fact they are pretty poor in my opinion. Expensive, poor service, cramped and have a poor safety record. As for Paris CDG well!!!

Why do I use them? They are the only ones that I know of that take animals to the US from france. Going from the UK, flights are nearer to my final destination, cheaper, more comfortable and safer BUT travelling from France to the UK from my residence is very difficult and the carriage of dogs is extremely expensive.

  4. Hello Russethouse,

Sorry, I do not like Atlanta city and the airport is worse in my opinion, so not stopping there. You are right, Delta has a base there.

Driving down to Florida. We do not fly  because of the animals, one sector is enough for them.

I think that LHR T4 is up and running properly now.

Have a good trip. Don't be put off by my comments on ATL, there are plenty of very nice places nearby.

  5. Thank you Cooperlola

The train does sound practical but getting to Rennes station from here is difficult. I am also travelling with my dog (bought him near you at 72320 Saint-Ulphace). After the last time, never, ever again with him on the TGV.

I see what you mean about the wide page.

  6. Thank you all for your suggestions.

I had hoped for a route from personal experience as computer generated routes from say Google and the AA normally route the shortest way, not necessarily the best. As I mentioned, I am going on a Sunday, I understand that the traffic into Paris can be pretty bad on the peripherique on this day.

  7. From near Rennes I am driving to Paris CDG airport in a couple of week’s time.

Been to several supermarkets, shops and even Amazon.fr trying to buy a suitable road map, no luck.

Anyone know or can advise the best route, clockwise or anticlockwise around the peripherique etc. I travel on a Sunday.

    Thanks.

To day the 3  rd  oct ober the MAIF based in Ni ort deuxsevres introduces a novel arrangemernt for the re placement of bodyparts dam aged on auto mobiles co-vered by insurance.

The source of the auto mobile bodyparts will be a Ni ortaise "con"cern; the trial will initially be only in poi tou charente but it is intended to extend it wide in the hexagon at a date not this year.

We were talking about house shutters, sounds like you have lost the plot. Look out for the man in a white coat.

  9.
I think the point is that it isn't a law, but it is a get-out clause from an Insurance company.
If you haven't taken these precautions you probably aren't covered, but you won't get a visit from the Gendarmes either.

    Thank you NormanH

  10. Intuitively transmogrified?

Juxtaposition (note it is one word)

Bunch of cons?? Not a phrase I use.

Deliberative wisdom (sounds a bit like Merlin).

In my opinion your phraseology sounds very old fashioned and if you respond to other queries along the same superior vein, you won't be a very popular chap-apa..

During my travels, I remember that Lonely Planet recommends Pachapapa - is that you, bye the bye?

I no longer require your pompous advice/opinion; thanks all the same, just get a life!

when I politely complained in person I was very firmly told to get out of the bank; charming!

I am presently changing banks dès que possible.
Wow, it is incredible that such behaviour goes unchallenged, when you are the client, you pay the wages of the person who told you to get out!

I am speechless - and yet, not completely surprised, as I greatly mistrust banks altogether.
Is there a problem with my replies or the website?

I have had the following deleted 3 times???

‘Yes I appreciate your thoughts but what you expect me to do? Punch the person (a woman) on the nose?’

  12. I can only sympathise with the OP. I too have had many problems with my bank, surprising after all the business I have personally put their way. I did not want to change banks because of all the aggravation of transferring direct debits etc but last week the bank made another grave error and when I politely complained in person I was very firmly told to get out of the bank; charming!

I am presently changing banks dès que possible.

  13. I thought it was mandatory to close window shutters if a house was left vacant for more than 24hours.

This has always been common knowledge here.

Stupid law I thought but is it the law?

According to my neighbour’s insurance company AGF, this is not required by law or insurance in his area of dept 22.

I will write to my insurers Credit Mutuel for their thoughts.

Does anyone know the law for this?
