Not sure if this in the right place, but I will send and see what happens, friends of ours have sold their French house and are now returning to the Uk, they are under the impression, that they will have to pay 3% on the money sent back to England, the French house is the only one they own, is this right please or are they getting false info. Thanks alot.

Thank you for your replys, unfortunately, I can't risk getting my glasses on line, my prescription is quite high, so I need to know that my lens will be ultra thin, plus because there are varifocals, they measure where on the lens, your reading line will be, I don't suppose the fact that I am 62, and although we fill out a tax form every year we don't pay any, hears hoping.

No we are not, our French neighbour says this year has 13 moons, same as 2007, and 2008.

Our book club is slightly different, it's held every three months, always at the same house, we don't discuss books, it's on an exchange system, you can take as many books as you like, and can take home as many as you like, the only rule is, that if no-one takes any of your books, then you take them home again, we all chat to each-other, sometimes meeting people that you havn't met before, cups of tea and bicuits, which some take along as a help out, then when you want to leave, it's goodbye for another three months.

We have planted three of these loverly plants, up until the end of last week they were full of beautiful orange berries, and stood up to their name (fire thorn) when the gorgeous winter sun shone on them, however, I am gutted to see that the birds have stripped them down to just the branches, whilst I am a regular feeder of the birds, we have three bird tables always full of seeds for them, I really am cross that they want our pyracanthus, does anyone know how we can stop this happening next year. We were told by some friends not to get the plants with red berries, this colour attracts the birds, so we bought the plants with orange.
-
yes they will be gone by christmas, ( if not I will take a handful of pills), but I will still swop with you, unless you can better this, the farmer lets them out of their shed at 7.30, they then squawk NONE STOP not even for a minute, until 6.0clock when he puts them away.
-
I will do you a swop BG, step out onto our terrace and all you will hear is 200 Pintard at the bottom of our garden, we get that for 18 weeks of the year.
-
Thanks Pads, would you know though, what we should look out for to make sure we start off with the cream variety, as I said in my previous post, the lable indicated nothing to do with the colour, our other two were planted by previous owner, and also do the feathers thicken up with age, ours is quite high, but thin and wispy looking.
-
We have just planted a new pampas, we are using it as a screen, however, we have noticed that it's pink, our other two are the cream variety, we have also checked the label that came with it, and it doesn't mention any colour, we are wondering if Pampas start out pink, then change to the cream.

what makes people want to ring a radio/ Tv station and complain about something, is it because they think their name will be taken, therefore giving them a feeling of importance, 30 thousand people sat and listened to a tape, which they found disgusting enough to ring up about, instead of just switching it off and getting on with their own lives, I understand that sales of Russell Brand DVD'S have gone up by 133 per cent, and that faulty towers box set have gone up 26 per cent, I wonder how many of that 30 thousand have contributed to that, people really do make me sick.

I am thinking about going back to wearing contact lenses, are they as expensive as glasses here, I can't get mine from places on the internet,as my prescription is abit out of the usual, in as much as I have an astigmatism, and they need to be bi-or varifocals, also they would be very strong, ( anyone young enough to remember mr magoo) even opticians in the uk struggled to help me, ideally, daily despossibles would be great. Any help please, thankyou.

Hi Paul, your question is abit of a hard one, we have gas central heating, but it isn't measured in litres, I wonder if you have the same system as us, we have an underground tank with a guage on it, totalgaz fill it up until the guage reads 85, we fill it again when it reads 20, this takes a full year, we have 12 rads plus heated towel rail, it's filled up usually beginning of november, as I said guage reading 85, by April the guage is down to about 30 after that when we turn the heating off the guage barely moves, taking us through to november again, our thermostate needs to be on 20/22, also our house retains quite abit of heat during the day, so we don't need it back on again until about 3'0clock ish, it goes off at 10 30/ 11. Hope this helps abit.

Thankyou Sue, just had another thought, can you give a friends address to open an account, then tell them after a while that you are now living in france.
-
I keep reading on the forum about nationwide accounts that are operated with a card, can these accounts be opened with an address in france ? I have been onto NW website and have noticed that they do an overseas account, can this be operated with a card, does anyone know?
