  1. Anyone had experience of using a French (C.A.) debit card (Mastercard) in a non EU, ATM machine to obtain local currency?  If so what charges/exchange rate do the French banks charge? What daily limits are applied? Is this a better option to travellers cheques? Thanks
  2. More interesting info here on this link. www.bestsyndication.com And we all thought Ry+++ air was a rogue company!!! Happy buying.
  3. Thanks Guys, fully understand your advice. It is a liner and there is a pool cover in place - I hope. Should we have more chemicals added or leave it as is for at least 6 more months? Will the water, in what ever chemical condition, do damage to the liner other than cleanable gunk. Can anyone help to find a pool maintenace company in the Eymet/Bergerac region? Thanks.
  4. The inground pool was completed November 2007, filled with water and chemicals applied to winterise, with the water level dropped below the piping. Due to circumstances we havn't yet been able to revisit France and the pool is still dormant. The water and electricity to the site has been suspended  due to our absence. Question is what to do now to maintain it in this,'safe mode'? condition for at least 6 more months? Greatful for the best and simplest solution. Thanks
  5. Ah you city folk-- have no idea how we country lads get by!!! Good luck.
  6. Thanks Bob really helpful. I have an offer from a UK dealer already.
  7. Thanks Guys. I am only in France for 3 weeks therefore I think it unlikely I will find a buyer in that time No I am not a UK tax resident and I am hoping to sell to a dealer rather than a private sale. I will only drive it ( as an overseas visitor) as I enter the UK to the dealers yard. Hence at what point do I deregister it and where does one get the paperwork from the French authority. Thanks
  8. I am considering driving my French registered Renault (LH drive) to the Uk for sale. (I dont have the time to sell it in France.) How does one deregister the vehicle from the French system on arrival in the UK? Thanks
  9. Hi Nick, Sorry confused with your jargon! Whats 'the PNV of the property'? Thanks
  10. Thanks for the info Cooperlola, I guess currency transfer agencies will have a Euro account into which we can deposit a normal Euro cheque rather than a Bank cheque, which no doubt will cost and raise eyebrows?- we will contact an agency. regards
  11. There are many posts offering advice on transfering funds into France for house purchase etc.  Having sold our French property we are facing the task of tranfering funds out of France to our overseas account. What has been the experience of others before us and what advice is offered? In particular how do French Banks respond to an international transfer of a large amount? Are there currence exchange agencys that will handle such transfers?  How do you establish a fair exchange rate? What Bank charges are to be expected? We are struggling to find sound advice on how to proceed.. Thank you.
