  1. I WANT TO TRANSFER POUND TO EURO TO CREDIT AGRICOLE BANK, WHEN SHOULD I DO IT TO GET BEST PRICE, IE IS ANYTHING GOING TO HAPPEN OVER THE NEXT WEEK WITH THE ECB TO MAKE THE POUND STRONGER, OR AM I JUST DREAMING,AND IS CURRENCIESDIRECT THE BEST ONE
  2. apparantly they work out the tax fonc and tax d hab on the rental value of the house, mine is like 1400 euro a year for a 70m2 house in a hamlet, well 70m2 is a small house compared to all the others around my  hamlet, and the others pay about 300euros, but i did fill out the H1 form 2 years ago, and before that it was 110 euro for both taxes, so best you dont fill one out if you ask me
  3. I wonder if it would be cheaper for the FED and BoE to pay of everyones mortgages rather than pumping billions and billions in to the global markets hoping that some where or some how or some magic will come out the other end to help people pay their  mortgages if they get into difficulty
  4. the man was not her father, he was a friend of the step father who was on the fringes of their friends and family network, but its good news shes been found alive, when i first watched the news it said "shes been found" and i was wondering why it didnt say dead or alive, i was expecting dead given 3 weeks missing, but 5 minutes later it said she was found alive and i was suprised and thought she is lucky, and well done to the police for not ignoring the no answer at the door means everything is fine
  5. according to the daily mail on monday, the mother has 9 kids and lives in a caravan in devon, but she could only take 6 or 7 on holiday, thats alot of money on flights and things, and according to the indian times newspaper about 160 tourist have been killed or mudered in goa in the last 2 years, i dont think that is true, its not like theres a war going on there, also the one that killed the girl was a local drug dealer that may have the local police in his pocket, i expect if someone gets killed in these sort of places you can pay the police a  "make it look like an accident fee"
  6. I was thinking of selling the barn with permis de construire to pay of rest of the mortgage and then keeping the house, but my new idea is to have a wooden house built on the land next to the barn and then i could sell the house instead, because of the way my land is with bumby terrain and a funny shape, the only flat and best area to put a house on is the land next to my barn so if i sell my barn and the plot its on i will not be able to build a new build house, the reason i would like a new build house is because i think the cost of making the original house bigger  will be roughly the same  price as a new build plus new builds have better insulation, I have not gone to the local mairie so far because I am in the UK at the moment
  7. you here storys in the newspapers of the kids being home alone because there mum and her new boyfriend have gone on a holiday somewhere nice and leave the kids  at home with £50 to buy the pizzas and then the kids have a party and then someone  puts it on myspace and 50 kids turn up then the house is trashed, then the police find out the mum is on holiday living it up somewhere like the maldives or on safari with the new flavour, and then the storys of the modern family travelling round the world on an adventure and some of the family staying on at some destinations for the culture and maybe the others are on the otherside of the world keeping in touch with email and phone but goa has a reputation as being a party place for western kids so obviously theres going to be thieves, druggies, and crazys waiting for the naive westerners with champane in 1 hand and a smoking thing in the other, and a wallet/purse filled with treasures and cards and gold and silver, how many hours or days does it take to work out if a person is safe to leave your children with or maybe there just isnt  enough time to think about it when your on a 6 month adventure
  8. you sound like someone in your 30's looking for a perfect house in france, you say you get your 50%  inheritence from the sale of your moms house when it sells but if the market doesnt improve it may never happen, surley the housing market in france and the uk is relative so if your house in the uk goes down 10% then the house you like in france goes down 10%, you say your mum panicked and found somthing out of the county where i could continue to study french, did you mean she found another college course for you or she quickly sold her house and brought another one someone where you could study french, surley you could have  studied french in any county in england  in the 1980's or 1990's, your maybe a teacher thats in her 30's with young kids thats not sure where to settle in france or italy, why dont you give it a few years untill you know what you really want, niort has a fantastic market maybe on fridays or saturdays and also lots of shops and a geant
  9. there is a place in the dordogne called eymet which according to the guardian online today is a village of  200 brit families in a village of 2600 population with a cricket team and fish and chips van but i expect its an expensive place to live, i expect they might have a supermarket or live near one, its nice to live in a community that speaks the same language with people you can trust and socilize with, thats the important things in my book

  10. what do you mean "view property in better light in december" surley the property would look better for buyers in the summer when the flowers are out,

also are you saying the estate agence take good photos or bad photos or add some spectacular photos maybe from someone elses property to make the sellers  property look really fantastico

  11. does anyone know what photos and drawings of the barn to include when handing in the forms to the marie, ie is it one photo of the front and one photo of the back of the property to be renovated and a drawing plan of the build including windows and door sizes, front view and back view but what about side view, and what about top view showing maybe velux windoors in the roof
  12. unfortunatly a family member stayed at the house and went shopping then lost the key to the front door, then smashed the window to get in, then used a spare key which was in the kitchen to open the door then replaced the cylinder/barrel with a new one on the existing old lock then shut the door again then the next day the actual old lock broke  when they was unlocking the door from the inside, there is a back door  which they didnt break so im entering that way for the moment
  13. no its an old door, im thinking of a sash/mortace lock that needs a seperate cylinder if the lock lines up okay in the door but how do you secure the cylinder to the lock when its in the door, ive noticed they have a thread at the bottom middle of the cylinder in the screwfix cataloge but cannot work out how it would secure to the main lock, if not i will go for 1 with the whole unit in one piece
