1. There is a new law that requires any UK registered vehicle to produce a full Certificate of Conformity as well as the log book to have a Controle Technique..

Is this the 'system' clamping down on all the illegal UK registered vehicles that are currently driving around in France, I hope so.

  2. I want to join also even though the OP is a few years old.

SD is always spot on with his posts and you don't have to worry about the facts, unlike others on here. Keep up the excellent work not only on this forum but the others you give your excellent replies to.

How few miles do you need to do to make it rentable?

Does the insurer pay for the fitting of the counter?

What sort of price per 1000k are you paying?

    Thank you!

Oh and is the breakdown cover included?

    Here's a link to their website http://www.amaguiz.com/assurance-en-ligne-@/index.jspz?id=52

    Try it for your self.

  4.
So they do not need changing because they have a flat dip and an an E mark rather than just an E mark. All cars supplied to the UK market will have E marked headlights, but they will need changing as they dip the wrong way for France.
Further to this, I have checked the lights on my 2007 uk purchased car and yes all the lights are 'E' marked except the headlights....

Also a friend who also has a moto had to change the headlight on his UK bike as it was not 'E' marked.

    Go figure.

Not really the case as when my French dealer who was doing the work didn't even check the beam pattern just made sure that the lights had an 'E' mark..

  6.

This all seems a bit complicated...

    I had a UK 2003 BMW R1150R which I brought with me when I arrived in 2007.

BMW UK gave me a free certificate of conformity (in German with French and English translations) which I took to the Sub Prefecture with the relevant (free) Quitus Fiscal, the V5, an EDF facture, my passport and my debit card and they gave me a Carte Grise (OK, they send it by post now). No question about lights (I have a stick-on converter which is fine for my use until CTs for bikes are introduced whatever the pundits may say) or the speedo (which has virtually unreadable kph figures. How difficult is it to remember that 50kph is 32mph and 90kph is 56mph?)
If your bike was built in 2003 it should have a 'E' mark stamped on the lights (my bike has) which makes it compatible with the european market therefore no need to change them.
Mine had E marks, but it still dipped the wrong way for France!

Would be interested in where the information that an E mark makes it OK for France comes from.
Going through the process of registering my bike (pan) and because my lights are 'E' marked then they do not have to be changed according to the paperwork I have had signed by the dealer, only the power output needs changing.

My beam is more flat than angled...

  8. Amazon will ship to France, which is where I got my Foxsat from so you dont need a UK postcode for delivery.

You only need a UK postcode when setting up the Humax, so you put the postcode of where you used to live, this then gives you the local ITV station from your UK area or you can use any postcode from England or Wales.

The Humax will work with your existing Sky dish just a case of removing the cables from the back of the Sky box and transferring them to the Humax.

You can use your current scart cable, but as the Humax comes with an HDMI lead I would use that, providing your TV has a compatible HDMI socket.

    Enjoy the footie.
Powerdesal I totally agree with your sentiments.

Dog should be ignored then maybe he will go away and annoy some other forum
I think he was here before you, so perhaps if you dont like his comments you should go and post elsewhere. If someone does not agree with you why should they have to "go away"?
Unfortunately i will not be going anywhere.

I joined this forum for the wealth of good information it offers. Some of which I have used.

I did not join to read comments that will no doubt affect anyone who has/had their families serving with our armed forces in the past, present and future.

  10. Have just spoken to Mr Smith about his trip to the Prefecture.  Seems he was very lucky because he has had problems registering his new bike with them. I asked if he had kept a copy of his COC but unfortunately he said that went with the bike when he sold it.[6]

He also said that they have had a complete computer revamp since he registered his Pan.[:'(]

    Onwards and upwards......[:)][:)]

  11. The saga continues. Having visited my local Honda dealer about the situation he advised me to write to Honda France asking them what I need to do about registering the Pan in France.

So I wrote to them and said that I had now moved to France full time and I had brought my ST1300A with me from the UK and could you please let me know what I need to do to re-register the bike in France, I enclosed a copy of the V5 and sent it off.

This morning I receive a letter from them stating.

"Following your letter relating to the vehicle in question

refers, we regret to inform you that this model has not been

type-approved in France and not in compliance with French regulations,

    including the matter of power.

    That Honda

motorcycle to a higher power to 100 horses allowed in France.

    Accordingly,

we strongly advise you not to bring this car in France
    ."

As you can see not very helpful from Honda France.

Do you think it would be better if I asked a Honda Dealer to reduce the power output of my bike and then get them to sign an attestation stating the fact and then try Honda again?

I know this will cost me but not as much as purchasing another bike.
