  1. We changed our licences over some 5 years ago and so things must have changed in the system. We went into Marmande sous prefecture. filled in the forms, pictures etc, showed them our UK licences, which they took from us and bingo 2 or 3 days later licences in the post. I imagine it is because of the new style driving licences!

Just a word to wish you well before you head off to Paris for your operation on 17th. Chin up - it'll soon be done with.
  3. I imagine that you will need to take out full private health insurance to take you up to either the 5 year rule or OAP status of one of you, which ever is the sooner. As long as neither of you have pre-existing conditions then that would seem the way forward.
  4. Do you have any UK bank interest to be declared? That could account for 93 euros.
  5. Thinking of you today, Ian - it must be very hard. How Debs remained so up beat and cheerful after going through everything that happened I find hard to imagine! She certainly left her mark on the forum and will not be forgotten. Please come on to the Forum now and again and let us know how you are.

Along with everyone else on the forum, my thoughts and prayers will be with you both on the 17th. In the meantime try to take things very easy and be relaxed. It certainly is the right weather for it. Good luck JR.
  7. Hope your wife is feeling much better now. With regard to your query I have a mutuelle with cover for 150%. I was in hospital last week and my insurance company pays 25 euros towards the cost of a single room. Since the tariff for the room was 60 euros then I had to pay the other 35. This is fairly routine with regard to mutuelles and max paid is usually shown in the small print. Unless you are paying the top level of mutuelle which can be up to 300% then it is quite feasable that you're expected to contribute. Different hospitals charge different sums of money for rooms and cliniques generally charge more (I think). Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Sweet has expressed my exact views. Your instinct is to go with Paris and you only have one chance at this. 15 days of cost will seem like nothing. If you're able to afford it at all - go for it. Thinking of you.

What progress are you making with your search for a good surgeon JR? I came out of hospital yesterday and though very sore and sitting on a rubber ring I'm not too bad and a bit mobile. I cannot give enough praise to the urology department at Clinique St Hilaire Agen (if anynone needs to choose one), One question though, normally I'm very active, taking long daily walks. Does anyone know if it is usual to have a daily anti-phlebite injection for a month after surgery? Anyway let us know your progress JR and thanks all for your good wishes. It does make a difference to know that people are thinking about you.

Thanks all for your kind thoughts. Just about to have a bowl of porridge before going to bed and then nothing until after my op tomorrow afternoon....

Hope all goes well with your plans JR - thinking about you. I, too, am undergoing surgery tomorrow - though not as serious as yours. Mine involves feminine problems but nonetheless I'm feeling slightly nervous! Thank you Norman for your useful link. I see that the Urology Dept at St Hilaire Clinique Agen is 13th in the Country - that gives me some comfort. Hopefully back in the land of the living soon....
  12. Why not edvertise this as a farmhouse with room enough for a horse. That would appeal to some British buyers.
  13. From Aquitaine have you thought of taking the A10 as far as just North of Tours and then A28 as far as the A16 then up to Calais?
  14. Debenhams have a sale on at present with up to 70 percent off. I've just ordered a king size cover, pillowcases, fitted cotton sheet and postage for £40. I don't think you could do much better! Worth looking at their website.
  15. It looks as though the air strike for Thursday 13 Juine has now been cancelled. I saw this on the Ryanair site who advise that for thursday no flights have been cancelled
  16. Added to this you should really have your carte vitale with you at all times - which means either keeping it in the car or on your person.....you might need it urgently when you're out. This is why blokes in France carry man bags
  17. As I said earlier on in my thread I'm not talking about state pensions but Civil Service UK pensions which do go in 8TK. I realise that state OAP is declared in 1AS but parsnips states that civil service pensions should be declared in 1AS as well as 8TK. Hope this clarifies
  18. From the following: SOMMES À DÉCLARER CASES 1AS à 1DS – les sommes perçues au titre des retraites publiques ou privées ; – les rentes et pensions d’invalidité imposables, servies par les organismes de sécurité sociale ; – les rentes viagères à titre gratuit ; – les prestations de retraite (de source française ou étrangère) the bit about retraites publique etprivees relates, obviously, to the French. I'll not argue on les prestations de retraite (de source française ou étrangère) except to say that UK Government pensions are treated differently to other prestations de retraite. Other thasn having great respect for parsnips view on this I remain unconvinced. I would think that Connexion's experts on this topic are Blevins. I remain with an open mind
  19. Hello gain, I have asked Connexion to re-check the information which stated that Government pensions should not be included in 1AS and their response is as follows: Dear Sir If we give that advice in the guide it’s because our experts consider it to be the right advice… I can confirm that is the case. Best regards Oliver Rowland Journalist
  20. Parsnips - thanks for your contribution but the Connexion 2013 guide states specifically that civil servants pensions should not be included in 1AS and 1BS. Are they wrong?
  21. I can answer my own question now! If you want E1 to appear on the blue form you should put a tick in where it says "si vous avez des autres imputations cochez le case si contre". You'll eventually arrive at this box.
  22. Hester - When I input my figures (Govt Pension) in Section VI of pink form it automatically gave me an 8TK on the blue form. That figure does not go into !AS or !BS as far as I'm aware. My only stumbling block now is to find E1 Renseignements Complimentaires on the online 2042 Blue form. Can anyone assist with finding this? Nearly there otherwise...
  23. Thanks all for your help. When I went to prepare the on-line version (mine is available for completion already) I found 8TK came up on the form automatically when I had entered my UK Govt pension on the other form. With the online forms you really do have to ensure that you call for all those supplementary ones that you need or else you could make an unintentional ommission!
  24. I have received a partially completed 2042SK in the post. My problem is that I have a Govt pension that I normally put in Box 8TK. Has anyone else found this and if so what did you do? Am I missing anything?
  25. Are you now of UK state pension age. If so you should have your own S! - just a thought.
