  1. Hi. We have a gite, currently rented for 10 weeks of this coming summer, and unfortunately the wonderful woman who did it for us last season is unable to assist this year due to other commitments. Is anyone available to do cleaning and linen changing over this summer, on Saturdays? Please PM me for more details. Many thanks, James.
  2. thanks for the answers - we seem to have got there with your help!!
  3. we used a company called affordable rentals (in bisley, surrey but I think they have other surrey/west london depots) who have unlimited mileage and were loads cheaper than everyone else when we took some of our stuff to Cahors.  you have to sort out your own insurance for the trip which I think we did through the rac so you aren't even getting extra charges over and above the real price of insurance.
  4. do you know, I was thinking about that!!  Unfortunately, we're in the uk at the moment and hoping to have it delivered the day we arrive in April so  it won't be possible.  I think I might have to look for photos of it instead but I'm a bit of a liability when I start looking at pictures of houses, particularly on estate agents' websites!
  5. hope someone can help - we want to gravel an area of our garden and the driveway and aren't quite sure what we want to buy!!  It's quite common in the Lot region for driveways and parking areas outside houses, it's pale (mostly yellowish) and seems to vary from dust through to about 20mm in size.  We think it might be called calcaire according to the website of the quarry near us but aren't 100% sure (and a 10 tonne order is a big mistake to make!!!!!).  It seems to get compacted down and gives a finish sort of like a public petanque court.
  6. we're near Prayssac and are looking for someone too so if you heard of anyone, we'd love to know!
  7. We've stumbled across this forum while looking for the answer to a few questions we have.  We've had a house near Cahors (46) for 18 months now and are at the end of a very thorough renovation!  Our thoughts have now turned to mini diggers.  We've heard from a neighbour that it's necessary to have a qualification in something mini diggery to hire one!  Is this the case and, if so, anyone know what the acceptable uk equivalent is?
