  13. I think you are correct as we went to collect the post yesterday due to being snowed in for 5 days and the secretary said we should have phoned as they would have come down and cleared the drive and put de icer down.she said its part of their responsibility so i guess that sort of agrees with what you say. Thanks.
  14. Can anyone advise as to the law or process for a drive to our home that goes through farmers fields. The house we own has a long drive and our boundary only starts at the bottom near the house, the drive goes through the middle of the farmers fields. The farmer rents the fields from the previous owner of the house who kept the fields either side o f the drive,my question is who is liable for the upkeep of the drive up to our boundary.I have been told that the commune can help but not sure this is true, the drive needs to be leveled and the ruts filled in but it is about 500 yards long at least. Any advice plaese.
  15. We have had our cards and got them easily but we have a friend who has paid tax in France for 2 years now and has no card.I thought i read somewhere that once you paid tax in France for a certain time period you were entitled to the health care cover. Any advice please, John
  16. Thanks for all your replies, but I am still not clear about the payments. We receive from the rsi(our mutuelle) an invoice showing what they have paid as a percentage of the total bill and there is a column that has a header saying votre mutuelle but there is never anything in the column.I hope this is clear as i cannot see how I can copy a invoice onto the site to show people as that would be easier. John
  17. After 5 years of living here we thought we had been getting all the money we should back, part from carte vittale and the rest from the mutual.A french friend now says we have been doing it wrong and we should send all the invoices to our insurance company as not all money is sorted by the rsi.I believed that they sent the part outstanding to the insurance for them to pay us back, I hope this make sense and can anyone explain in plain English please.

  20. Hi Steve, I agree having looked on line at various garages in the uk and got prices there does not seem a lot of difference anymore. john
  21. the other money is for a full service which i think is over the top but why the car is in there it all done and out the way.
  22. The price we were quoted included the water pump and its 330 euros, having looked at vw garages in the uk i don't think the price is a lot different over here and at least you go back with no worries.
  23. Thanks for all the replies must admit did not understand a lot of it and just checking the quote it does include a water pump as well,I think its a question of biting the bullet as they say and getting it done.We are off to the uk for a holiday soon and would hate for anything to go wrong. john
