Thanks for all the advice which I will take and get some of the flushing chemicals,I did try and turn off all the rads except the blocked one and it seems to have worked.I guess all its done is move all the muck to the next radiator but at least I now know it will works when sorted. John

Just as a thought do you think its worth while me flushing the system just by turning the fill up tap on and then turning the drain tap on and leave it flushing through for a while.

Hi Sid, Thanks for the reply,yes when I flushed the rad a lot of black sludge came out as its the longest point from the pump which is only 2 years old by the way.If I wanted to flush the pipes is it possible that I just turn the water on as to fill the system and then open the tap in the cellar and let the water go out that way.Would this get all the sludge out as we are a two storey longere and not sure all the water would push through,.,the rad used to get hot. I have an old cast iron radiator that was not getting hot so called a plumber out who says it was blocked and needed flushing out.I did this yesterday and took it off the wall and managed to get it outside(very heavy) and flushed it through with the hose,put it back on but still not working properly.It gets warm at the top but the bottom is cold any suggestions..The rest of house is ok. Just had a very professional guy claiming to be from Microsoft who seemed to know i have been having problems with the computer,but not trusting anyone who phones I just listened to him.When he asked me to sign onto the computer I then challenged him and said you are not microsoft and of course he hung up. Thanks for all the replies but I am now confused as what to do,I have an orange live box and just want to give fisherman in our gite the chance to use their lap tops etc. What is the simplest and safest way for me to do this without having to go into passwords and everything else mentioned previously. I have a gite that is about 50 mtrs away from the house and want to give wi-fi access to our guests next year,I have no idea how to do this and if I can do this at all.Any advice would be greatly appreciated but please in a simple term as i am not great at this sort of thing, Thanks, John

Not sure where to post this one so will try here,as we now have to recycle just about everything which is good,I have a question that hopefully someone can help with.When I went up the rubbish tip last week a new guy there checked my black bags i was going to dump.he said as there was food inside I could not leave them.I have now been told that we should have a seal-able box we are supposed to put any food waste in for collection.We have never been given one or had one,can anyone help please with where to go. Hi Quillan, Hopefully you will see this or someone else may be able to help,can you tell me how i can look at all the programmes that are in the start up as all of a sudden my computer is taking ages to fully boot up.Is it possible to get a list up that i can look at and if its something that i did not download delete it. Hi, Thanks for replying and i use outlook and  which is sent straight to from my orange server. john

I will try and explain as best as possible,i tried to send 2 emails yesterday that were too big for my server i guess and they are stuck in my outbox.There is a number 2 next to where the outbox is but when i click on outbox the messages do not appear,but the computer keeps trying to send the 2 emails.Can someone please tell me how to clear and delete the emails.Its driving me mad as it blocks incoming emails.

Can anyone advise what the law is if you use a drive that is owned by another person but you have legal use of the drive.The access to our property is down a long drive and this is owned by a local man who is refusing to maintain it,it is in bad need of repair.We do not want to get into legal battles but i would like to know where we stand with the law and if the mayor should get involved as he does not seem interested. we pay 114 euros a month but that is for everything covered just in case.

Thanks for the advice but my broker has managed to get the insurance company to sort it out for us and although the one you quoted looks good I am actually happy with them as they were the best price for a lot of cover. The broker is English that does help a lot when you have problems. Thanks, John

Not sure i can ask this on here but can anyone advise a good top up insurance that is in English as my french is not good enough to understand all the small print.I need to change ours as they are messing us about and are now not responding to calls and emails,we live in France full time and pay tax here. Not sure this is the correct place but has anyone any idea if there is a comparison site in France to check who is the cheapest supplier,we are with edf on their "tarif bleu" tariff. Just be interested to see if there is a cheaper option out there that's not complicated to understand,but then of course comes the hard part moving suppliers possibly. Thanks.

Not a technical answer I am afraid but it seems to work for us,we have 2 numbers the land line and the voip phone number,we only give friends the voip number.When the land line number rings we answer clearly in English and when they ask do we speak french we say no,it takes a while but our sales calls have virtually stopped. Worth a try.

Can someone help me to settle an argument as we have friends going back to the uk and we disagree about health cover.I though i was told that when you return if you have been out of the country for a while you are not covered in the uk for 6 months am i correct.If this is the case and you have been covered in France can you use the french system and claim it back until the uk one kicks in. I want to buy a dvd player that will play avi discs but when i have been into stores i cannot see the avi listed,is it classed under something else.Some info would be good as i don't want to buy the wrong player and find i cannot play avi discs on it. Thanks

I know some people are going to say we should have know but we did not so I am posting on here to warn others who may not know.We have a health insurance top up and always assume the money we got back was a mixture of the rsi and our insurance company,this is not correct and its worth checking.For the last 2 years we have only been getting back the rsi part as our insurance company was never registered with the health authorities,I sent our insurance company all the invoices and we have just got back 198 euros.I hope this makes sense as its worth checking.
