Pat, twice we've bought Condolence cards in France (Super-U) and both times the packet has contained a very useful slip of paper with a variety of messages that one could copy and write in the card.

How about looking at your local Troc.

I needed a filter for a Bialetti (sp?) type coffee pot. I took it to our local, very small quincaillerie. They measured the appropriate section, found one in a catalogue and have ordered it, with luck it will arrive any day now.

I enquired about getting our (usual) U.K. postal vote sent to France and was told that as we were applying later our envelopes would be in the second batch mail-out and they couldn't guarantee that we would receive them in time.

We will have to ask a U.K. neighbour to forward them to us in France.
