  1. Hi Dick

PDF is acrobat, I have two pdf programmes the other is adobe, tried both, when I put the disc in the desk top it worked ok, at first I thought is was the disc, the pages that do not come up on the laptop, on the ones that are missing it says, (error occured when rendering this page, it misses out quite a few pages, like 44 pages. out of 109.

The recipe I have tried every thing I know, I think what I said may be a bit misleading, it prints out the componants of the recipe, then misses out how to make it, there are 11 elements to it, it prints out 9-10-11 but does not print the first 8, then it carrys on printing further recipes, maybe a fault on the ITV website.

    Dick thanks for you input.

  2. Hi People.

Wonder if somebody can help me, I lost the instruction book for my camera, maybe been packed ready for a possible move the France some time in the next century.

So I bought a CD, of it, when I play the CD I can get pages 1234 but not 567, then it goes to 12,13. I have tried the CD in my other computer and it all works ok.

Yesterday my wife wanted me to download a recipe from the ITV morning programme, again the lap top will print pages 1 & 2 but not page three, I tried it 4 times but got the same results.

Any one got any ideas please. Thank

  3. Hi People.

My friend have moved to France in September last year, when we went over to them in August this year they asked me if I would contact Sky for them to cancel their contract, they gave me all the details, bank acc, acc number, etc, when we got home, I telephoned them, what a reception I got from them, could not do this could not do that, then was told it needs to be in writing, when I said I had also posted a letter about it to them, I was them told, it should be ok when we get the letter, my friend told me they had tried to contact Sky by phone, but could not connect with the numbers they had.

Some time after this, I had a call from my friends saying they had had a bill sent to them vie their old English address say they owed, I think it was £29 odd, Jackie gave me her details credit card and asked me to pay this amount for them, again I tried, spoke to a lady, waited a while, she then said, I cannot help you as I need to get into the account, well I said, I need a pass word, ok I will call them and get it, No thats no good I was told as there is no pass word on the account, what can you say, all I wanted to do was pay the balance of the account.

  4. Hi Guys

Just thought I would pass my experiance with Fuji camara repair centre in the UK. 5 years ago I bought from Currys a Fuji Finepix S5000. super camara, on a recent visit to France I had a problem with it, it appeared it had got left on play back or knocked on to playback, when I went to take a photo I was just getting lines on the screen.

So first I went to Currys to see if they could get it sorted, did not want to know, as PC World was a couple of doors away asked them did not want to know.

So ok I thought I would try Fuji, tried their website, but could not get passed my address every time I put my postcode in it keeped saying wrong postcode for this address, we have only been here for seven years.

Next I telephoned them, got someone who did not seem to know the time of day, when I tried to explain the problem, could not get an answer from him, all he said was, send it to us, I asked is this the correct address, reading it out to him, no he said and read the same address back to me.

I contacted the repair centre and was quoted £59.99, deep intake of breath. ok, and paid it with a card, I TOLD THE GUY IT WAS A FINEPIX S5000, I asked how long it would take, normally 10-12 days but maybe be quicker, so I took it they were not busy, this was on the 19th of Nov.

This morning a box arrives on opening it I find an A610 MINI  camera, I telephoned them at two minutes past 9 oclock, explained it all and was told I had sent them an A610, I said to the guy, until this morning I did not know what an A610 was, how has this got into the conversation, I do not own a A610, but that was the repair price you were quoted for, I told him that was his problem, I asked for an S5000 repair quote, a long pause on the phone, he came back to tell me he had found my camera, has it been repaired I asked him no as you have not paid for this its £89.99, by now my blood was boiling, leave it with me he said and I will get back to you.

He has just telephoned to say he is sending a return paid enverlope for the 610 and that my S5000 will be repaired for the £59.99 I have already paid, and it will be with me early next week.

    Be warned.

  5. Hi People.

Could someone offer some advice, I have recently downloaded Skype, got it all working, then bought a camara, which after messing about have now got that working, my brother in Australia has been on at me to get this set up, as he says he is always calling me, my comment your the one with all the money.anyway.

I seem to have lost the sound on my laptop, tried resetting the sliders, but as soon as I hit ok, they all went back to zero.

This afternoon while running a video from the forum, I thought I heard sound coming from the phone, sure enough it was, when I unpuged the phone from the USB I got the sound back on the laptop, so it appears the phone it causing the problem. any Ideas please how can I cure this.

    Thanks

  6. Hi Folks.

Could someone please answer this question.

When we were trying to buy a house in France, (which we lost) the agent told us there was no need to pay the 5-10% deposit, on signing this could be written into the document, is this a normal thing to do or was it something special to this agent?

    Thanks  Colin

  7. Hi all

Just to let you know what happened to us in August, I booked a retun trip Portsmouth - Le Havre with LD £149 + 20 extra for club class seats, same as we did last year, last year my car broke down so could not make the return crossing, OK they charged us £10 to alter the booking.

This year I could not make the return trip on the booked date, I needed a couple of extra days in France, so phoned them and was told

£70 to change the booking, I had no choice so went with it hoping I had heard the French girl wrong, my bank statement came in a couple of days ago they have charged me £80, I sent them a snoty email this morning asking what they were playing at to be told sorry it should have been £70 they will refund the £10, I went straight back to them and asked why £70, I was told £10 for changing the booking and £60 the differants in the return journey, so the return journey cost me £134.75, same boat same ports same time, just two days later, what a rip off, I have been back to them again, they are not interested they have an answer for every question you ask, I have told them I will not use them again.

The first email I had from them was utter rubbish the second not much better, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

How can they do this, there seems to be no control over anything thses days.

  8. Hi people.

Hope this is the correct place to ask for advice.

The house we are hoping to buy in France has a set of tiled steps from the hallway down into the garage, there is no hand rail, which I will sort, but my cocern are the steps, not so much for us but the grandchildren, I am worried that they may go down the steps with just socks on, slip and go flying down the lot, I did not notice if there was a lock on the top door.

Is there anything I can paint/spray  on the steps to make them non slippery, I am sure I read on one of the forums, there was something you can wash the steps with, which would help, any one any ideas please.

    Thanks  Colin

  9. Hi Rose.

My wife and I went to look at a house for sale in Le Muret near Biscarrosse last week, we met the english people next door that had put the house on the internet for his French neighbour, the house was next door.

When we returned to the English couple house, I noticed the same thing a pole decorated but no bread, I said to them, have we forgotton to take down the Christmes decorations, Maureen the wife said come and look, there was a letter in French which she read out to us.

The pole was from their neighbours welcoming them to the village and thanking them for their help with village things, she told me it had to stay until, she thought the end of the year, when a party was organised and the pole taken down, seemed a nice thank you from their French neighbours.

Dont know if this is the same as the one you saw.

  10. Hi Ernie.

Yes we have done it twice,it was super, one of the trips, we got up in the morning on arriving at the station in Avignon, to find breakfast all laid out on the station for us, we sat in the sun, it was glorious, would not have missed it for the world, after this we drove to Grasse for a weeks holiday, we were driving a Rover 2000 P6 this time. 11. Hi Boil a frog

I think you need to get a life, all this bu   sh  you are giving out, you want to try living here, I have been here for 7 years its got worse and worse, the bottom line of the sheet you sent some it up, ( we try to stop flying early evening) that means 12.15am or 3am I thought this was early morning, and as I have saide why not over fly some where else for a change and give our village a break.

All I loose is sleep, what about the people who are still working and have to get up early in the morning that dont count I suppose.

  12. Hi

With the hope that we can move to France, I asked Jaguar if they could supply this bl   dy CoC that the French seem insistant on it was supplied free of charge and sent to me by special delivery, what about that, knowing what price Jaguar parts are, I was told if I had gone to Land Rover their sister company I would have had to pay £95 for the same thing, so this document is just another money making scheme.

  13. Hi

No its NOT one week its every week nearly every night, I asked the local MP if this was the only village they were allowed to fly over, all she said was they have to train some where, but not every night, Tuesdays are normally the worse 3-4 hours, have you heard these bl   dy things at 500 feet over you.You cannot think let alone hear anythis, the house shakes.

  14. Hi People.

I have the same in the UK, nextdoor neighbour has a new girl friend, all we get is the bang bang of the base, if it was music maybe it would not be to bad, I send in the wife she sort him out, he is a good person, and normally responds.

The other big problem we have are chinock helecopers, the council do not want to know, the MOD do not want to know, After complaining to some twit at the mod, he told me the problem was we live on the flight path to Odiham, I told him I except that but that has nothing to do with the bl    dy thing flying at I guess 500ft over the village, he said but they do not fly after 9.30pm, when I asked why they were flying over my house from 7.45am to 2.45am the next morning he could not answer me other than we have permission to low fly over your village, this week 10.45pm until 12.20am I thought one was going to join me in bed it was that low and close, when I asked why they could not find some where else to train again they could noy give me an answer.

The Bl   dy dog at the bottom of the garden barks for 7.45am till when ever, lat night 11.15pm, I report the owners to the council, who sent out a strong letter to them, the guy came banging on the doors of every one on the estate to see who had report them, he said his wife was up set, my wife said yes so are we, he said our dog does not bark, I counted 22 times in one day that was the base of my complaint.

Our postman said to me one day he just want patting on the head, yes I said with a baseball bat,

Then the guy from the council telephone some weeks later to ask how things were, and I must admit they had gone get a bit quite, he asked me why I had not knocked on this guy door to tell him his dog was barking, the guy was in his lounge watching the television, the dog was on the patio barking its head off, and you want me to tell he its barking. well.
