  1. Can anyone give me any ideas as to where I can buy some decent furniture for our house in the Lot et Garonne area?  We have been to all the shops in Villeneuve, the Brocantes and Trocs and we are aware of Ikea in both Bordeaux and Toulouse, but we are looking for something a little different and stylish.  Any suggestions would be gratefully received?

    Thank you

  2. Does anyone out there have any ideas as to where we might purchase a full sized snooker table?  We are in Dept 47, but realise that we may have to travel further afield to find what we are looking for.  Second hand or new but if anyone has any bright ideas or knows where to find one, then please let me know. Thanks.
  3. Does anyone have any experience of NGK Construction working in Villeneuve?  We are looking for a good reliable builder in the area for our house  renovation.

Any comments or recommendations would be gratefully received.

  4. Can anyone give me their experiences and comments on who to use for landline/internet/broadband and international call packages?  France Telecome have quoted us 16 Euros a month for the landline plus an extra 39.90 Euros a month to use Orange to include 8 megs of internet, broadband, live box and international call package.  Is this the norm to pay?  It sounds very expensive to me.

Are there other packages out there which are cheaper and work efficiently.

Look forward to hearing your comments.

    Many thanks

  5. Hi there

I was interested to read your comments on telephone/internet use in France and I would be keen to find out more from you.

We are moving to the Lot et Garonne area in April and France Telecom have quoted us 16 Euros per month for the landline and then using them to use Orange it is an extra 39.90 Euros per month to include up to 8 megs of internet/broadband/livebox and international call package.

The above all sounds expensive.  Would love to know your exact package and what you pay.

    Many thanks

  6. Hi there

We are probably going to use Hunts as they have been recommended to us
by 3 different people.  Not had a quote yet though but again our contacts
tell us that they are very competitive. We are moving to the Lot et Garonne and
apparently they know this area very well.  Give them a call. I did just
that and they seem to be very on the ball and they offer maritime insurance
which is something I don't think many of the others offer - ie. if the ferry
sinks, (God forbid) your goods are still insured!

Good luck and perhaps let me know how you get on.

  7. Not sure if you got my response, but for the last few weeks, I have been sent too many to count, replies to your requests. It seems, that I have been linked into your reply base.  Each day when I tune into this forum I have at least 20 replies and frankly I don't need it and feel that you are missing out.

Not sure what can be done, but please, take stock, and try and make sure that you get all the replies with songs, not half of them,  The other half are coming to me!!!!!

    Thanks

  8. Does anyone out there have an experience with Ikea kitchens and their fitters?  We are thinking of taking them on for a fitted kitchen.... comments and experience/advice would be greatly appreciated.  Is it cheaper/better to buy in the UK and take out with us, or to buy in France?
  9. Hi there

I am not sure quite what has happened, but for some reason I am getting inundated with replies to your "the songs we are singing".  Everyday, for the last few weeks, (hoping it would stop but it has'nt) I receive up to 20 replies and to be honest I just don't need this.  There must be a glitch somewhere.  Could you please advise people to make sure they are sending their repiles to you, and not me.

    Many thanks.

  10. Many thanks for that.  Very helpful and much apreciated.

We are not actually doing an extension - we are "opening up" an underbuild.  Phase 1 is knocking down an internal wall in the main house, installing a new kitchen (any ideas on this would be helpful, ie. should we buy it here and ship it out or is there anyone you can recommend in the area?) installing a new bathroom, upgrading an existing one and then general decorating work.  Like most women, I would like it to click my fingers and find it is all done!!!!  Dream on.

    Good idea about the mairie.

Any advice or recommendations of builders would be appreciated.

  11. Can anyone recommend a good English architect living in the Lot & Garonne area or a competent English speaking French architect for our house project early next year.  We are after a good and reliable and recommended builder as well.

    Hope results come flooding in...

    Many thanks

  12. Can anyone advise me please as to what the approximate daily rate is for a plumber, electrician and decorator in France.  We are moving to Lot&Garonne area early next year and need all 3 for our house, but not sure what the going rate is.  Any advice will be much appreciated.

    Many thanks.

  13. Can anyone recommend a good and reliable professional kitchen fitter working in the castelmoron/villeneuve sur lot area who is able to come and work in February/March 2008 when we take over the keys of our house?  I look forward to your response.  Many thanks.

  14. Hi Ian

Thanks for that.  In fact I have found on here by recommendation a company called David Dale removal specialists and they have come up with a very reasonable price to move us from Amersham in Buckinghamshire to the Lot and Garonne area, so we will probably use them. They gave us a quote nearly £3K cheaper than Sterling removers who are advertised on here.

I am sure there will be plenty more questions between now and the time we move, so you may see me on here again.

  15. Hi there

Just joined on here as we are moving to Montpezat d'agenais in the Lot & Garonne early next year and wondered if anyone knew of a very good, reasonably priced and efficient removal firm.  I have had one quote in and nearly fell off my chair!  Any advice would be much appreciated.

Anyone living in this area or thereabouts?

Look forward to hearing from you.

    Hello

I am new to this site and would be grateful if anyone can anyone recomend a good and reasonably priced removal company. We are due to move from Amersham in Bucks to the Lot and Garonne area early next year.  We have had a quote from Sterling and they seem to be terribly expensive.[/quote]

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Anyone living in the Montpezat d'agenais area?????
