  1. Hi tribalecho, hope your purchase is going well.  I am not  sure where Yvias is, I'll look on the map. I know Plouha well though, it's a lovely village.  Our purchase is looking a bit ropey at the moment.  We were given a couple of months to sell our house in the UK and of course with the market here as it is, we haven't had any offers yet.  The vendor in France may give us more time, but then again... If it's meant to be it will happen I suppose, but I really really want it to happen! We are going over in a few weeks to visit relatives in Plouran, which will be torture if we have lost the house.  Anyway, good luck with your plans and keep your fingers crossed for us! Best wishes
  2. Ah, must tell my Aunt to stop having her daily swim down at St Quay!! Thanks for the tip-off.
  3. Yuk [+o(], I had heard about it, but I was told it was only around the Portrieux area (still quite close for comfort though)! Hopefully it will have cleared up by the time we get out there.  Any idea how it happened? Sweet - We are very excited, but also terrified, it's a huge decision and however much you think about it and weigh up the pro's and cons you can never fully know what you are letting yourself into until you try it.  We have visited Brittany many many times and know the area very well.  Dinan is beautiful, we have friends with a house slap bang in the middle so if you ever need to rent somewhere  ... 4. Hi, We are buying a house in Lanvollon. Cotes d'armor,  not far from Binic, Plouha, St Quay Portrieux ....
  5. Hi, just wondered if anyone is living around Dept 22? I would love a contact (or two!) there for when we move later this year.  Many thanks
  6. Thank you for your replies.  We are moving to Brittany later this year and have a boy of 6 and a girl of 8.  Our son is a bit of a live wire and although he is prone to the odd strop in class, I think he will be fine (kill or cure!).  Our daughter is a different altogether, she isn't very confident and I hate to think that the language barrier will hammer what confidence she does have.  I would love to hear any tips, experiences etc. from other parents.  I am going to buy the muzzy DVD for them to watch before school every morning and hope that will help.  Thanks[:D]
  7. Hi, I have noticed that some towns  in France have 'public' and 'private' primary schools.  I once asked someone the price of the private schools and they told me that they cost around 40 euros per term!  I presume 'private' in France is different from 'private' as we know it in the UK? Can anyone explain please?  [8-)] Many thanks
