  1. Tuppence - I have just spoken to TC about being charged for calls even though I subscribe to the unlimited call option. Full apology and refund of the cost of the calls.... Can't say fairer than that can you... I have not had my FT bill yet, but I assume, like you all my calls went through TC and I won't have any extra to pay on the FT bill.

Also - to those "knocking" Teleconnect - Yes I agree we as end users have had problems over the last few weeks, and if I was a new customer I am sure I would be just a bit miffed by now, but I have been a customer since Jan 2007 and overall I think the service has been excellent.

Yes, the bank charged me because of a change of name - TC refunded this money to me. Yes they charged me for calls, but they have just refunded me for that too... And they threw in 10 euro for the inconvienience... Think British Telecom/Talk Talk/ etc - Would you get that level of service without a fight - I think not

Nell, I have just managed to access my Teleconnect bill. As you mentioned they have refunded €10 to each of us. However my calls via a fixed line were €18.53. As they said that ALL calls would reimbursed without question, guess whos' making a profit here??  I have e-mailed them to complain as IMHO they are renaging on their original offer.

Checked my bill - normally it is about 42 - 44 euro per month. This month 74 euro [:-))]. The cheeky so and so's have charged me for all calls via voip and all calls via fixed line and then also charged the normal 5 euro for "unlimited free calls" [8-)]. Tried to phone them, but obviously I didn't get through.... I'm a bit confused to be honest, I thought any calls I made were via FT and I would get a bill from them for calls that I would then send to TC and they would refund me the cost of the calls. That was what I understood from TC, when I spoke to them about being unable to make calls via the TC system. So I have no idea what the calls on my TC bill are all about.... I think I need to go and lie down in a darkened room [blink][blink]

  3. Read the Teleconnect email that also includes my invoice... Thought, How nice, 10euro refund on my bill..... Went to have a look at the said bill, and can't access it !!! Sorry but all I could do was burst out laughing

Tuppence - I have also loaded IE8 and I notice while posting this thread I don't have any "Smilies" to choose from. Apart from that and the fact that everything on my laptop is smaller (or my eyesight went really bad overnight) haven't come across much else that's changed YET !!!

Must say in terms of continuity of supply France probably rates somewhere close to Nigeria. In less than 2 years in France we've experienced 10 times more power outages than in the previous 50+ in UK [blink]

Now I think France electric supply is brilliant, but my comparison is with Northern Ireland - Electric down a least three times a week. We also had a freak lightening bolt that killed a desktop PC stone dead [:D]

  5. I'd suggest, don't do anything while the technical support line is closed...

Also, worth comment - Having started this post because I did the update not long after being told too, I noticed that in the last week while TC seem to have been messing about with the VOIP, yesterday I think was the only day my VOIP did not go off at some time during the day... Whether that's significant on not is anybodies guess (Could even be the fact that they were not doing anything yesterday because it was Good Friday [blink] )

  6. I would suggest somthing like this - http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav.jsp?action=detail&fh_secondid=9284425&fh_view_size=10&fh_location=%2f%2fcatalog01%2fen_GB&fh_search=carbon+detector&fh_eds=%c3%9f&fh_refview=search&ts=1239133252327&isSearch=true

We use an alarm like this in the house and also in our camper van.

One of these saved the OH some years ago..... He was working away and was asleep in the camper we had at the time. The gas heater took a hissy fit in the middle of the night and the carbon monoxide alarm woke him.......

  7. Got through to TC today to question Direct debit charges (I've given up on the telephone/internet problems !! )

Explained about being charged for a new direct debit set up..... Answer " No problem - just hold on a second while I credit 10.20 euro to your TC account"

    Wow - I didn't even have to argue [:-))]

As for connection - they told me it will be okay by Thursday [blink] ( I nearly asked which Thursday, but kept the mouth firmly shut as I'd just got some money back......

By the way, for anyone else out there who needs to get their DD money refunded - Phone Customer Services not Technical Support

  8. I'm CA too and yes Ernie I agree there should have been a mandate, that was one of my arguments with the bank on Friday.

I discoverd this late Friday afternoon, so there was not much to be done, but starting Monday I will be on the warpath [:)]

I know 10 euro is not a King's Ransom but it's the flamin' principal and I just Hate being ripped off.....

  9. With the on-going teleconnect problems I was not in a particularly good humor yesterday, but what has finally tipped me over the edge, is the fact that when I checked my bank account I had been charged 10.20 euro to "set up a direct debit". Phoned the bank and told them I could not recall setting up a new direct debit, so could they please tell me what this charge was for..... "Yes Madam - It is for a new direct debit set-up for a company called Budget Telecom".

The bottom line - Teleconnect has changed their name to Budget Telecom. In doing so all their bank account numbers have changed, which means, when they ask the bank for the direct debit payment, the bank takes this to be a new direct debit and charges for the privelage......

The banks attitude - Sorry, it's a standard bank charge, talk to Teleconnect

Teleconnect I assume will say (obviously can't get through to them) - It's a bank charge, nothing to do with us

    - Catch 22

Just a thought - How much money has the banks made from this little exercise? There must be lots of direct debits out their for Teleconnect or should I now say Budget Telecom

  10. Just an update..... I emailed teleconnect over a week ago to describe the problems I was having with the phone line. Below is the reply I have just received, which may be useful information for all those in the same situation.....

    Thank you for contacting us.

Following on from changes within our network the outgoing calls on the VOIP service is still not yet 100% stable.

We are currently doing our best to make the service available as soon as possible, everything should be back to normal by 6th April.

During this period of downtime, we advise you to make your calls using the France Telecom line and we will refund the costs no questions asked.

We are aware of this issue so no need to call us or contact us by email as it will only slow things down.

However if you still having problems from the 6th April onwards, you may contact our technical hotline on 0805 111 555 or by email to [email protected] with the following information:

1)Telephone number you are trying to call.
2)Date and time of call. (do NOT send us calls made before 6th April )
3)Very brief description of the problem (example "We can't hear them but they can here us"  or vice versa)

** Important, we will need this information for THREE different calls (so 3 unique numbers) **
** Do NOT send us this information for calls before 6th April. It is normal that the VOIP is not working correctly at the moment.

Thank-you for your patience during this time and rest assured, we are working very hard on our side for you.

If you need to contact us again, you should note the reference [xxxxxxxxx] and remember to insert this number in all future email's object.

    Best regards,
    Andrew Forrester

I get OH to do mine.

My excuse - the cold hurts my hands

I have to listen to "Tut Tut " and "What's this??" and "My God how long has this been in here??"

but switch of and give very vague answers and it's sorted in no time....[:D]
