1.
.................................... Made a few of us laugh when the UK said it was sending the navy to sort out those pesky French fishermen who were getting a bit lippy. As one newspaper here said have the British run out of rivers now to send their gun boats up.......................................................  .
My, what a marvellous sense of humour you Germans have.

  2.
Excellent coverage (by far the best I have seen) of the new 'mutant' strain (B.1.1.7 - one of hundreds/thousands or more) : https://unherd.com/2020/12/how-dangerous-is-.the-covid-mutation/
Thanks very much for that link. It explains the recent situation very well.

What a pity so many people seem incapable of understanding it, even if they had the patience to read it.

Mr Starmer would be well advised to wise up on information like this before opening his mouth, but as a lawyer he only sees black and white, and cannot bring himself not to grab any straw of political advantage that comes his way..........

  3.
Visitors are cleaning the hull out of my house. I did it before they arrived, apparently it is not enough. Who the heck does more than pass the vacuum cleaner under the beds.

I shall emigrate to grubbier climes!
As Alf Garnett once said, everyone had their own bit of dust and it's no use trying to get rid of it, it just follows them around.............

  4.
I (non resident) registered 2 vehicles at our place last year via ANTS, registered using mobile no. and email etc

Just tried logging in and my details unknown!

Did another registration process and this time to register a vehicle it has now asked for my franceConnect info which I dont have (yet).

If I need to I can ask a neighbour or a garage.

Shame, I preferred the process to the old way of visiting the prefecture and queuing up.
I also registered with ANTS some time ago in anticipation of selling a car, and found recently that "my details are unknown". Maybe they lost a lot of information when they had all the problems with the new system.

Fortunately, as a resident, I can log in via FranceConnect.

It goes alongside the replacement of other auxiliary verbs by the ubiquitous "GET"

get a jab = be vaccinated
    get a coffee/shower = have a coffee/shower
Is get well soon pc enough?

  6.
Reported elsewhere , and sorry for the lack of paragraphs, crap spacing (thank you forum software) "We will not be able to vaccinate everyone at the same time. The logic will be simple, the most vulnerable people will be vaccinated first, followed by several phases depending on the people concerned".

The government gave details of the timetable:

a first phase from January to February will concern 1 million people: residents and caregivers in Ehpad.

Then February -March, vaccination "will be extended to the over 75s, then from 65 to 74 years of age, then to health and medico-social professionals aged at least 50 or with co-morbidities", this will concern 14 million people considered to be at risk.

Then, starting "at the beginning of spring", the rest of the population could be vaccinated, with priority being given to people aged between 50 and 64, security and education personnel, and vulnerable and fragile people.
Which government is that. please? I'm never quite sure on this forum.

  7.
Yes, but the article states what Macron said (and nothing has been said since that changes things for inter regional travel). Macron said that deplacements between regions were forbidden. Since the 28th November, thing have changed in as much as exercise is allowed for 3 hours etc. But even the government sites still say that after 12th December we will be able to travel between regions, theoretically meaning that at the moment we cannot. Although, following the logic of "we stay at at home unless we have a good reason to leave" any derogation that is allowed on the attestation is valid, even if in another departement or region, so confusing.
Yes, I agree, that's what I intended to point out in my first post on the subject.

I checked the last 6 Décrets, back to Oct 16th, published on the Aude (11) website, and could find no reference to travel between regions being forbidden.

Possibly it was part of the couvre-feu rules, which did not affect the Aude, and consequently were not published here.

But, my belief is that Macron's statements do not become law until they are ratified and published in a legal form, as I don't think France is currently governed by decree, whatever Macron might wish.

    EDIT: Corrected "departements" to "regions".

  8.
Is Macron a good enough source, and BFMtv French enough?

    https://www.bfmtv.com/politique/confinement-les-deplacements-entre-les-regions-interdits-une-tolerance-pour-les-retours-de-vacances_AV-202010280349.html
No, I'm sorry, but it's not good enough. Those are newspaper reports. Not official instructions.

Whatever was reported, or what he said in that speech does not seem to be reflected in any legislation.

"I live in the south of Occitanie, and have only seen limitations

based on distance, not on travel between regions, and don't know how I

    missed this.

The only reference I can see in the two current links to official information, below, is that travel between regions will be allowed after Dec 15th., nothing saying the contrary.

Could you please provide a link saying inter regional travel is currently forbidden?"

I think  that this is one of those  rumours that spread among a certain 'expat' population who don't read the French regulations but do read anglophone mis-information. It is not for nothing that there is a paper called "the Correction"[6]
That's what I thought.

This Forum used to be a fairly reliable source of information. It now seems to have deteriorated into a rumour mill, like so many others.[:(]

  10.
It is inter regional travel that is forbidden.
11.
Received a nice letter from the British Embassy Paris this week, direct to me outlining all the things I need to do for the UK Transition.

Only I got a letter, not my wife. Have others received separate letters? Just curious, there is nothing in it that affects us, other than the new EHIC which helpful people on this site have already pointed out.
I received the letter a day or two after my wife received hers. We both have S1's (E121's) registered.

    We're still awaiting new TdS's and EHIC's.

  12. Amazon has succeeded because they offer a better way of doing things.

Those who are losing out only complain because they didn't think of it first.

Maybe those who boycott them will also return to writing letters instead of emails or twits or whatever.

And travel to work on a horse and cart.

Also, many small businesses sell via Amazon.

  13.
This site gives a quick easy way to decide on 20 km radius from your address:

    https://covid.esrifrance.fr/perimetre-20-km/

    Needs copy and paste
Thanks for the link, Weegie.

With my limited abilities concerning such things,I just managed to understand how it works and printed off a couple of maps.

We have to go to a business in town next week. It is only just within the 20 km limit à vol d'oiseu, so I might have to argue the toss if we are checked.

  14. No problem renewing my wife's passport. It took five weeks, and over two more to get the old one back, but we were not in a hurry.

My only problem was the photo. My hands are too unsteady, so I had to rest them on a chair back, as we gave the tripod away years ago. It was hard to find a suitable plain light coloured background in the house, and there is none outside. Inside, providing lighting without shadows on the face or in the background was difficult.

Using all the available lights in the lounge and shining a floodlight from the garage onto the ceiling eventually gave enough soft light to get a picture I thought was OK, but the website software said her mouth was open.

I added a remark that it was not open, submitted it, and it was accepted.

When my PP comes up for renewal in a couple of years I think I'll rig up a screen in the garden as a background.

  15.
You need to look at your attestation on the Ameli site to see how long you are covered for healthcare. I am registered with an S1 and my attestation is for a full year. My wife is covered by an E121 from 2003 and her attestation expires in 31 December 2020 (BREXIT date). We are in contact with CPAM now trying to get it amended.
Ours have so far both been dated for 12 months, but I recheck every so often just in case they change. I also save the latest one just in case they do.
