  1. Thats why I like this forum. Plombiers agree - pipe sizing wrong. Will get it looked at. Thanks for the help.
  2. We have 3 bar coming into our house and when loo is flushed or shower run, all other outlets drop their water pressure. We are looking to make a granny flat on the property for my mum, but as we will be tapping off the same supply after the meter, I am worried about loss of water pressure in the main house or vice versa. Do I need to get a plumber to fit some type of pump? I have no idea. I hope I have explained myself properly and that any plumber might help. Thanking all in advance.
  3. All, Am going to start looking at the wiring in my barn conversion at Xmas. A branch has been taken from the cottage but not yet connected.  Electrician won't connect until he is happy that the electrics conform to the French norms. My question is:  Can I lay telephone cable and electrical cable in the same gaine throughout the barn? Any guidance appreciated. Pete
  4. Thanks all for the advice. The fireplace will not be the only source of heat for the (what will be house) barn, there will also be radiators.  We are not looking to heat the whole house, just have a fireplace in keeping with the look of an old property that we can use on those winter nights.  After all a fire is a lot more romantic than a radiator! Think I will call a qualified (no insult meant to anyone here) chappy and get them round to look and give advice so that whatever is done is within the regs. Thanks again. Pete
  5. We are in the middle of converting our barn into something habitable and are trying to decide on the type of fire in the living room.  The plans have a chimney included but should we go for an open fire or a hearth with a poele in it.  Does anyone know if there would there be a big difference in the price for the chimney or would the type and method of build be the same?  I know that there will be a difference in the running costs, but it is the build that concerns us at the moment. Any guidance from those experienced in this type of thing would be gratefully received.     Pete

    Pet Insurance

Wondering if anyone can help me.  We are moving down to the Dordogne at the end of this month and bringing our cat and dog.   Anyone got any ideas for French companies that do pet insurance (obviously there are loads in UK) ? Any advice much appreciated. Pete
