  1. computor error! on the first line or so......oops computors are a bad  subject for me!
  2. I am trying to get the truth from Alistair Sawday directly he promised to get back to me...but has not1The main thing is that the appointment for inspection was made and then cancelled two days later.I expect from anyone to wait and see what is on offer...what we can do and to respect that our background is based on a long period working in the catering industry retaining merits in the best guides.Pre-judgement is unfair and unprofessional. We have no desire or need to copy the style of  others....after all you can cook...or not cook...whatever the case may be.You have a comfortable and stylish home or you do not. However the financial situation of the world will make life more complex. Can we here in France gather together our thoughts and offer the rest of the world an irresitable package.....present our offering to a newspaper?Anyone interested to talk about this.
  3. No not sunday driver...Tony F Dordogne....
  4.          where are all my lovely friends...Raindog...sunday driver .....lives in 33...the moderator from Berks who eats in nice restaurants....Jaqui....just want them to k now that all is well with me and hope that they are still in France...or interested to be in France
  5. I have to say........you would be better here in 33.....from the point of....it is a good area for investment and much longer retal period.Rentals begin around april and end in Oct.....as a base season.....renatls can be all year.....
  6. Did you inherit your liscene.....or did you apply for a new one.....Do you usually wait for the inspector[health] to arrive? So different to the uk.
  7. More or less exactly what I said......if you work hardyou will always be ok.Moving away from your original homeland is never easy but if you are not prepared to put effort[and time] into your new life...how can it happen for you.In uk if you get into a financial pickle the goverment helps;rents paid and there is some money to live on......as long as you do not own your own buisness!Every one comes into the world with the same chances....we then go on to make our own destiny....but working hard is a great  part of sucess and survival.
  8. If you look under Bed and Breakfast......the tariff is quoted. If you look under cookery courses...there is the all inclusive price. There is also a price for the evening meal...As we are not a fish and chip shop I do not need to "chalk-up" the prices boldly everywhere.
  9. Not all Journos are bad...and Damien is not bad.....but they all seems to be looking for a story which takes you on the"THE DARK SIDE OF THE TRACKS...MISERY....DOOM AND GLOOM" trying to get a journalist interested in our project is mighty hard!Of  course there are millions of "special guest houses" but I have added extra caviets and there are interesting additions to the package.Or do they have to be comissoned...ie paid a few thousand pounds for a two day visit, wined and dined....for the possiblity of 5 lines in a trade jopurnal!Or is the only good news the boreing old news of how to spend 5 pounds in Sainsburies or how to make a fool out of a fellow chef on a TV screen in front of an audience.
  10. Sweet 17 thanks for your thoughts.....what is the signiture thingy?
  11. Just wanted to add that although what Damien Mc Crystal wrote about was an incorrect assumption.....and he should have printed an apology...I still understand the hawty attitide of the journalists...because in London they are Gods. He, did get it wrong as my move was a calculated and intelligent way of  landing very happilly on my feet...and on different soil where I could prepare gently for old age.My lovely house, parc, fruits and vegetables and a gentle waive of very contented and appreciative guests. Most of this was missing in London. But for those in the catering proffeso who are not billionaires[bank style and not  relying upon monopoly money or contributions from Jack on the beanstalk] there may be a large price for compaclainancy. The number of reatuuarants with many empty tables is increasing[restaurants from Michelin stared to red cafes.....and rents, rates and all overheads are increasing by the moment as fear looms through the pages read every sunday afternoon in central London.I am so glad that I made the right decision.....and sold when the going was good and look out of the window at the vines.....ready for the vandage and to grace those London restaurant tables in a few years time.
  12. Not condreiu!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. Tarrifs...well arfter looking at some "rather typical B and Bs I feel that for what is on offer we are priced fairly ok.....breakfast costs us [in time and money]more than most dinners may cost in a meduim priced restaurant and the dinner at 39 euros is incl wine, mineral water, coffee [from a professional machine...as breakfast] and 4/5 courses where everything [except the bread..just currently]is made here....so pastry, stocks....[soups/sauces]It takes time to prep....time to serve.....and time to clear and to wash the dishes.Because we enjoy what we do.....we do not mindInfact on refelection our prices are rather reasonable.
  14. www.closdessaveurs.co.uk     we have just said goodbye to a german couple and a young couple/...he is German and she is from Portugal.......anounced their engagement....Will ban the consumprion of food and wine in the suites and rooms.....found some red wine on a sheet! Yes you are all welcome...tarrif is on the web site....
  15. yes breakfast surely must be included.....we enjoy giving people a pleasureable breakfast experience....always fresh fruits with variety, youghurts, jams, chestnut spread, peanut butter...morning goods;pain au raison etc....or maybe the northern France cake made from creme fresh...or Italian xmas bun,breads...of course, prunes soaked in Eatl grey, dates, frehs fig compot....a choice of coffees from the gagia or herbal or conventional teas plus....on most occassions some scrambled eggs with chives from the garden or smoked sausages with grilled plum tomatoes[soon will be from our garden]Juice....sometimes freshly pressed orange or a very pleasant pressed grapes....Perhaps lots of wahing up...and a little extra effort...but we really enjoy doing it this way.Oh sometimes...melon and cured ham...smoked salmon or a small cheese board.
  16. The fact is that Sawdays made an appointment to inspect and then the "inspector" CANCELLED the vist the next day.I  was told that they had run out of time!.....maybe I will run out of respect for them!
  17. God...you lot are so bitchy....no pills...except for times when I have a bad cold or headache! But may subscribe to anti-forum people tablets because sometimes you bring out a bad side of me[which does not normally exsist.Hold on there Quinllan.....we DID NOT HAVE TO SELL our restaurant we chose to sell! And, at the right time.Really very few of you know anything about the catering buisness.....or, I guesse why should you!But we had managed to train and keep our 2nd and 3rd chef for 8 and 9 years without straying perminently......and knew that thbis was about to change.Training chefs is amazingly hard work...almost harder than producing 1st class cuisine at 3 AA rosette level for 10 years[or more]So we sold...with adequate financial rewards. We had bought our freehold in the last recession from the bank...the receievers and we got 105% mortgage.Damien .....definately DAMIEN  may be a good journalist but if he lead people to think that we had fincial problems....then there is a deffinate flaw!Well after we sold we spent time seeing our frinds and catching up on relaxation...chefs and manager rarely have time for this....we always worked about 16 hours a day and at least 6 days per week.Loved my work though. Then we opened a Deli/cafe/pattiserie in Chiswick ....should have been here in France....but family matters delayed the move.Damien.....by the way fails to communicate....tried him at home...and have invited him here....What can I do....carry on enjoying being in France...I guesse.
  18. Jura....my friends come out of season. As soon as we had placed everything correctly...our neighbour in the Chateau just along the road came with the clients[she had previously made a friendly inspection].....our area is very touristic attracting clients who feel a little less gloomy about the finacial woes of the world.Every time my neighbour is full and she gets enquiries she directs the clients to us...and she is very well established. There is also a hotel in the village and they send us clients too.Now is time for promoting ourselves.....but we still have guests arriving.By the way we have expereienced unpleasantries with Alaistair Sawdays guide...they do not wish to include owners of hotels and B and B if they are British. However they have behaved a little badly with us...which  is rather sad as an inclusion would have been helpfull.....even at the cost of just under 800 pounds...or euros...forgotten.
  19. yes....I was the owner of Chinon...and Samien Mc Crystal wrote about our restaurant Chinon and was a regular customer....I have good memories of London for most of that period. Are you related to Damien? No happy pills.....by the way...making an effort to be happy.
  20. Off to St Emillion to show someone around and then dinner at our fav restaurant......in Pujols....if you wish I will send another reciepe....Fr...if some of you try it out.bye for now Jon/Barbara
  21. Panda.....maybe the financial side of things sounds great....but I certainly do not wish to live in London again....Songster...the restauranters in London [and elsewhere in Uk ]are worried.....very nervous...I have inside info...and friends who are still there.Nothing is easy....as I have said before ....often...you have to choose carefully where you need to be.
  22. No difficulties...really  just came accross people who felt like being difficult! Not suprised that cats are more precious than anything in the universe....they are wonderfull creatures! The neighbours cat moved in with all his suit cases and food bowl several weeks ago and we are now a complete family.Yes summer was good....And maybe there is going to be a fincial storm brewing in  most of the world...but the fig, cherry and nut trees will keep us happy.....and the clients...hopefully will keep coming.www.closdessaveurs.co.uk    and I will offer you a receipe Pot roast of  lamb with juniper...will that be a good idea now that the days are getting cooler...a good simple all in one main course dinner party dish......or maybe the stuffed quail from the web.?
