hiya all leads ok the space ship thingy looks like a space ship with pads for landing, also in the corner of the screen is a yellow star shape with a m on it, we are in the vendee.

hi is anyone having trouble with the tele (SKY) all we are getting is a space ship looking thing, we have unplugged the sky box and removed the card for 5 mins but still the same.

actually I do take offence that I dont understand nature, our garden is a haven for wild life, flowers everywhere, butterflies, bees, bird tables and a huge pond housing the whole of the vendee's frogs(judging by the racket),so no place for regurgatating flies, or vermin (moles), whilst your garden suits you like that , it wouldn't suit us (no offence intended) I can't see how you would know if you had moles anyway, so I will treat vermin with vermin like tactics. sorry my way of killing moles upset you choccie, maybe in the future if you see the heading moles in this section you should avoid reading it, I put moles in the same catogory as flies, they serve no purpose at all, and I certainly don't see my garden as a ' piece of grass '

I think the cheque signing queiery needs to be checked (pardon the pun) I have just looked at our cheque book and it has et but only one of us ever signs at a time.

clearly you dont have a mole problem, or if you do no pride in your garden.

Hi all, moh was talking today to our french neighbour about our mole problem,she said that if you put broken glass or brambles down the runs, the moles cut themselves and bleed to death, please, no aahs our garden looks like a bomb site, we put up with a bit of mole activity, but its getting ot of hand now, has anyone tried this method.

we live in the vendee and our friends are having renovations carried out, they asked an english achitect to draw their plans, only to be told they must now only use a french one.

Hi everyone, thanks a million for all your thoughts and ideas, hubby has taken on board all suggestions and is off to brico armed with his picture (from screwfix) I hope I can be a help to someone the way you have all helped me . The toilet will continue to be a problem for a while (hubby is off to have his hernia repaired) so when given the go ahead from hosp excavation work will be in progress. .So watch this space. hello steve just come up from the flower pot and yes there is a smell not horrendous just a whiff .

my reason for mentioning the post dated cheque was irrelevant really i was only going through the procedure of pointing out how easy it was for us we were expecting to have to pay a deposit the rep just happened to mention that they would'nt cash it until permission was granted it did'nt matter to us either way

hello just to let you know the pics wouldnt go on but your discription of the vent pipe ws correct I think we have exhausted all the whys and what fores it looks as if we are stuck with this smelly toilet so thank you all once again if someone does have a brain wave as they are dropping off to sleep I will be very grateful

we had a conservatory built in feb ours is 15 square metrs so needed planning permssion which was very straight forward the company that we chose sent a rep we told him what we wanted all agreed he then asked us for any plans of the back of the house so he could show where the consv will be built we paid him a deposit and away he went he asked us to post date the cheque as they couldnt cash it until our permission was granted that took 2 months we then recieved a letter from the mairie with a bit at the bottom to fill out hubby did this then took it to the mairies office then three months later we got another letter with our permission we rang the company and secured a date to start the work which took two days. All very straight forward we dont know of anyone else who has had a conserv so I cant say if we were just lucky or not I'm sure.  Our conserv is fab

ok thanks for that we didnt think it was right its just that if we could have saved 10000 Euros a year why not I am by the way 61 hubby is 62 thanks again

can someone advise please we have been told that once you reach 60 here in france you dont need a top up as things like operations big or small and precriptions are free is this right

dont see how these can be the problem the vent from the fosse is outside in the drive and the thing with the mushroom is at the other end of the house the saga goes on

Hi we are so grateful for all your concerns we are at our wits end when we flush the toilet there is no glugging from the sink the fosse vent is 20mts from the toilet it is 2 feet above ground terminating in a u bend we also have a vent above roof line with a mushroom thing on top over the utility room which is 10 mts from the toilet the upstairs bathroom is fine no smell ever. This toilet used to have a shower in it hubby took the shower out put a bag over the pipe which he filled with silicone then cemented the floor we then had someone come and put a screed over that plus the rest of the floor then had cushion flooring laid on top the only ventilation we have is a small extractor fan going up into the roof and the window, one of our friends thought the smell was coming up through the floor but how is that possible with all what we have done to it. OH says he can sometimes get swan ultra thin here in the vendee but he says O C B are just the same
