Assemble the joint with a twisting motion to spread the solvent and melted pvc around the joint BUT WORK QUICKLY as you have only a few seconds to get the felt tip marks in line. Suddenly the weld will 'grab' and from then there is no way back.[/quote]

You have confirmed what I thought should be done when assembling the pipes. However the instructions in French seem to indicate that the joint should be assembled without twisting.

    Which method is correct?

The link I mentioned is for a properly run Pharmacy come doctor service. They wont give you any drugs you are not supposed to have and yes the drugs are the correct ones and not some cheap imports.

You don't have to use their service. I merely pointed it out as a reliable alternative for someone who finds it difficult to obtain the drugs they need there in France.

For instance. If your not fluent in French and you need some of your regular medicine but find that it's not available there.

  3. I was never sure about whether we needed a CDS, TDS or anything. We lived in France quite OK from 2002 till 2007 without any formal paperwork. Apart from our passports and a carte gris that is. I dont think anyone is really bothered if you do normal things within the law.

I did register my car on French plates and paid all my bills but never had a problem with anything else.

We are now back in the beautiful UK and my car is now back on its original UK plates.

  4. Does anyone know of a good simple way of learning French verbs in the spoken form. I have a Collins Verb table book but find it infuriating in that it doesn't show which part of the verbs endings you pronounce and which parts you don't.

I don’t have the book to hand but I think the verb stems are in grey and the different endings in brown. The use of colours is very useful but are there any books that show you in colour which bits to pronounce and which bits stay silent

And I would now never dump France Telecom,  at least when I ring on the FT line I can quickly disabuse them of any idea that my line is at fault.

It is for that reason that I have used Wanadoo over FT lines for the last four years. It is also possible to walk into an FT shop and talk to someone about problems that may arise.

A big advantage in my book.

  6. All asbestos should have been included in the report. If it's cement bonded sheeting then it should be possible to take it to your decheterie. You'll need to wrap it in plastic bags or something similar. Make sure you use a good face mask whilst removing it though.
