Thought this might be a useful link for those considering changing their Internet Security suite. http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r22068070-Norton-2009-user-reviews
Please explain.
FrenchieI love your new logo. So true.
And they called themselves gentlemen !
With reference to another recent thread. I was wondering if either owned a Rolls Royce and/or a Rolex.
-
We went to the Notaires office and they photocopied them while we waited. I think the system in France is that the Notaire always keeps the originals and gives you a copy. I believe that the originals are treated as state documents.
-
To my mind. Owning a Rolex is a bit like owning a Rolls Royce. It has a lot of status amongst the kind of people you wouldn't really want to be seen with.

TinaThat's a very nice thing to do. I'm sure a lot of people will appreciate that.Trevor

15 Security Suites are reviewed in the March 2009 issue of PC Pro (UK) magazine.
Their “A List” product is Avira Premium Security Suite at £40 for 3 PCs and is summarised as “A simple, efficient and affordable package that delivers good protection across the board”.
BullGuard Internet Security 8.5 at £45 for 1 PC is granted “Recommended” status.
Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 at £50 for 3 PCs which was their previous “A List” product is described as a “strong contender”…..
and Norton is a mediocre 'also ran' [:P]
It is interesting what a difference five months makes to a "recommended" Security suite. [8-)]http://www.pcpro.co.uk/security/reviews/227709/norton-internet-security-2009.html -
That's not what Father Christmas was RRE, its simply what he and it has become.Bring back the days when you got an Orange and a Mince pie I say...............[:)]
So you had an Orange AND a mince pie did you?????I used to look forward to my Rupert Annual. It wasn't my idea but I did enjoy the stories. The pictures with words underneath were really interesting in those days.
How do you know he isn't BTW, some very smart, wealthy, and influential people thought Madoff was a genius. In fact, to get away with what he did for so long, he was !
It is slightly comical that Bernard Madoff "Made Off" with all the loot and then says he has nothing to show for it.

To the original poster. If you do go the route of making a cable up make sure the crimp connectors match the cable correctly. There are two types of cable connectors for a) Multi stranded conductors or b) solid conductors.

Nobody seems to notice that in the USA where the Republicans(Conservatives) have held office for the past eight years that there is a similar mess to our own. David Cameron should take note.

As you move the mouse down the page the time displayed on the mouse pointer goes from 06:10 to 07:40 but the scene changes from daylight to dark!!!!! Maybe it should have been 18:10 to 19:40.
ginger and white - unusual to have females with that colouring.
I had a conversation some time ago with someone who was sure that ginger cats were male. I had personally never heard of that and in fact my neighbour's cat at the time was ginger and was very definately female.
I might add that I have just sent back to the supplier a camera that I thought would fit the bill, the Fuji S5700. It had an impressive 10x optical zoom, a great LCD screen and takes both SD and XD memory, but everything else about it was a disappointment (poor colours, inaccurate auto-focussing with no practical alternative, and a horrible red-eye problem with flash, despite having a - completely useless - red-eye reduction setting). I may have been unlucky with a rogue example, of course, but I intend to try something else.
AlanI read your original post with interest as I had just purchased a FinePix S5700. I really like the camera's handling as its easy to take spontaneous type pictures as the camera is light and simple to operate. As most of my pictures are taken outside, I dont find any problems with the camera's colour rendition or focusing. I would add that my colour vision is CP2. Have you found an improvement with your replacement cameras?Trevor

I have just had the upgrade request for service pack 1 on my Vista laptop.
Does anyone know if it is OK to install this or is it the proverbial 'jar of worms'??
JohnVista SP1 is fine. I have now installed it on two of my machines. One is an older ASUS AZN8X-X PC with 500Mb RAM and the other is an ADVENT 7113 laptop with 2gb RAM. I think that MS have taken notice of all the slagging and I have every confidence in their newer offerings. Performance is good on both my machines.EDIT: I thought I'd add that I'm running a couple of legacy progs. One is Intuit Quicken 2000. This runs fine on both machines.Trevor -
I happen to know Jumeira beach very well. It's where I used to ahhhhmm... I do remember well though that the police used to be very tollerant towards Westerners in that part of the world. I think it was to do with the fact that the police chiefs were usually British nationals and also that the nationals themselves in Bahrain and Dubai were usually very courteous. Back in the 80's I went through a Dubai radar trap and was stopped and given a ticket. The policeman was very appologetic but I told him not to feel bad and I would pay the fine. For some strange reason ( I think picking up my girlfriend on the way to Jumeira beach) I went through the same radar trap again half an hour later doing the same speed. The policeman who stopped me was the same one who had stopped me a half hour before. He had smile on his face as he handed me the ticket. "You will have to appear in court for two tickets. This has never happened before". Well I did feel a bit silly and I remember the smiles on their faces at the court.

I have to agree with Ernie here. Acronis True Image is definately the way to go. It really is the simplest and most reliable backup system I have used.

Never turn the engine off when free wheeling as it's possible to loose proper braking and/or steering. Also you may accidentally latch the steering lock and be unable to steer.
So back on the twin and earth thing!! I had given up on the idea, cant use it, so ......I'm in Bricomarche today, and what are they selling? Yep, twin and earth and it's blue, brown, and a roll of green/yellow.So if you cant use it, why are they selling it?? Yours Confused, Belves
Twin and Earth relates to the UK flat White or Grey cable with two insulated conductors (usually black and red) and a central bare earth core. The bare earth conductor is thinner gauge copper than the insulated conductors. The cable sold in France is three core and will have all three cores insulated. The cores also have the same thickness copper conductors.Another reason for not using UK cable is that the UK black conductor is used for Neutral whereas the French use black conductors as Phase or Live!!!!!Trevor

Nice to hear that you're back in one piece and that you are both OK. Trevor
