  1. I have always put the miserly interest from my ISA in Box 2Go in previous years. This year there is no Box 2GO on the 2013 2042K Tax form. Does anyone know which box this should go in? I am debating putting it into Box 2TS along with my (other miserly) UK bank interest. Any suggestions ?
  2. Many Thanks Norman & S.D. Parfait. Have all the answers I need now. John
  3. I know there have been some changes in the Tax system regarding tax benefits for Eco work, but I cannot found it on the French Tax site. Does anyone know what (if any) Tax reductions there are for having Double glazing fitted around the house ? Many Thanks
  4. After reading a French Tax help guide it advises as follows:" If you have a UK old age pension and have completed section VIII of the 2047, then copy the total pension figure to box 8TL on the 2042" I only receive a Form 2042K, ( ie. I do not put anything on a 2047) I then make the submission on line. On the 2042K I have put my private pension and our State pensions in boxes 1AS and 1BS, if I then put the total of our UK state pensions into box 8TL will this be counted twice as income? or is there some tax advantage to putting it also in 8TL with regard to CRDS ?
  5. Hello Andrew,                       Thanks for your reply. To say I was flabbergasted by it is a classic understatement! And there was me thinking I was upgrading my expertise with the purchase of the Aquacheck. I'm 80 Euros lighter and it seems back to square 1. Before reading your reply I had added more chlorine tablets and PH minus into the water, and now get a reading (with Aquacheck of course) of PH 7.2,  Chlore 0.00 and Alk 158 which seems reasonably consistent (accepting that it is all wrong!) I accept your expertise in your assessment of the Aquacheck, but am surprised that it is so useless as it's made in the USA where they probably have more pools than anywhere else in the world and would expect them to have a good product to cater for them? Anyroad up, ~Taking your advice to do nothing leaves me non-plussed as I now have no reliable method of checking the chemical quality of the pool. I visited your website to check on the Testers"Cool Pool" (Palin), and Scuba/+. Clicking on the shopping Tab on your site does not open the page so I was unable to check the price of these products. (not that I'm in a hurry to lighten my wallet again so quickly) Is it your advice that the only way I can proceed is to abandon the Aquacheck (say, jumping on it with my hobnailed boots), and invest in Cool Pool or Scuba+ ? If the 5 drop and Aquacheck are so unreliable, then I need to have a a reliable method of testing to get my pool up to a good and consistent quality (which I suppose answers my own question !). I also noted in the Forum that you recommend changing the sand in the filter for Zeolite ? I would consider doing this but do not have the expertise to do this myself. Do you travel to carry out this kind of work and get pools into good chemical condition? I'm in the Aude South of Narbonne and assume that such a visit would be quite expensive ? Look forward to reading your comments, although they may casue me some sleepless nights (kidding). Many thanks, John
  6. Having read lots of the advice in this forum regarding various chemical levels, and having for the past 3 years used the simple 5 drop tester for PH and Chlorine, I decided to become a little more precise in my attempts to get the chemical levels of the pool correct. I therefore invested in the AquaCheck Truetest electronic tester with strip readers. I have a sand filter system and the the pool is about 45 cubic meters (10,000 gallons). In my most recent test with the old 5 drop tester, it indicated that the chlorine was about 1 to 2ppm and the PH around 8 (difficult to judge exactly what story the colours tell !) In my first test with the AquaCheck it indicated that I had 0.00 chlorine, 7.2 PH and 162 Alkilinity. Obviously the chorine has to be adjusted. The PH seems to be within acceptable levels, but the Alkilinity is way out of tolerance. The documentation recommends that I put 3.6 to 4Kgs of Sodium Bisulfate to correct the Alk. What is Sodium Bisulfate? where can I buy it? and will it have an effect on the chlorine and PH readings? If so how should I compensate for the changes that may be caused by the Sodium Bisulfate ? I note that Javel is often recommended rather than the multifunction chlorine tablets that I normally use. What is the dosage of Javel needed when the pool has a 0.00 reading of chlorine ? I also noted that reference is often made to the cyanuric acid reading. This is not catered for with the AquaCheck tester. Is there any other way I can check the level of cyanuric acid ? This is also the case for the Bromine reading. How do I check this level? (although in the documention it does say to multiply the chlorine value by 2.2, but it does not say how to adjust the Bromine level if it is incorrect) The other thing that puzzles me is that I follow precisely the instructions for closing the pool down for winter with ant alge etc, but every year I open it it looks like a duck pond (or cesspit) with the whole pool covered in dark green algae. I'm told locally that this is because the pool was too high in chlorine before I closed it, but I always check the levels are correct before I close it (with my 5 drop tester that is !) Many thanks in advance for any advice you can give John
  7. The final notice of annual salary from Urssaf says to enter the amount in either box DB or Box DF. on previous on line submissions I have placed it in box DB. but I have read in this forum that it should be placed in Box 6DD. which is correct
  8. I use online access for Credit Agricole. I put my account number in, then I put the 6 digit code in (which I generated myself) and it opens the account no problem
  9. I have not yet received notice of Tax to be paid for year 2007. When are these normally issued, and what are the deadlines for payment ?
  10. I recently submitted my 1st Online Tax Return. Tax Form 2042-K Today I received the Form 2047-K from the tax office. Do I still have to fill this in and submit it, or is this an oversight by the Tax Office ?
  11. Many thanks for all the replies. I have seen the light and the way is clear !
  12. My private pension provider will be paying me a lump sum of money. This will be taxed  at 22% in the UK prior to payment being made (despite me being a non tax payer, non-resident in the UK), and a tax payer in France. I understand that this tax will be reclaimable, although I'm not sure yet what procedures are to be followed to reclaim this. My questions are :  (a) Is this lump sum taxable in France and to be declared on my next Tax return ?                              (b) If it is taxable in France, would it be more beneficial to allow the UK tax to stand and not pay tax on it in France ? Many thanks.
  13. I currently have a UK driving licence which expires when I am 70 years old. Having checked on the DVLA web site it only allows you to renew the licence (online) if you are resident in the UK. Does anyone know what the procedures are for a Non-Resident to renew his UK driving licence under these circumstances? Is there any merit (and is it permissable) to exchange it for a French driving licence before it expires? and is there an age limit on a French licence ? Many thanks
  14. Cooperlola/Ron Avery/Sunday Driver. Many thanks for answering my queries, particularly the last post of S/D which has completely lifted the Fog from the Bog. I'm eternally grateful.  I can now play my Bluegrass banjos with an easy mind (before the wine) !
  15. Many thanks for your reply Sunday Driver. I will indeed submit my next Tax return on line as it seems so much simpler However  the reality of this situation is that my local Tax office have advised me to resubmit a 2047 and a 2042. They also advised me to put our State pensions (in 2047) in Part VII. and there it directs us to transfer the Total to box TI on the 2042 ! I understand that our UK pensions are not taxed in UK (and yes I did submit an FD5 with my French Tax Return, although it seems that Paris have still not forwarded it on to the UK some 7 months later!). I don't understand the significance of  our State Pensions not being taxed in the UK with regard to box TI?   Is it not the case that revenue entered in box TI is exonerated from French Tax ? ( I think that is what it says, but not sure). Basically I'm trying to accumulate an argument with my local Tax office for not entering an amount in box TI as they have told me I must enter an amount in that box Many thanks for your help (I've already drunk the wine !)
  16. Having read recent posts regarding "Contribution Sociales", and having  received a request for payment of this, I realized I had mistakenly entered our Private and State Pension amounts in box TL of the tax return. After visiting my local tax office they also pointed out that I had entered our state pensions in the wrong place, ie in part 1 of  Form 2047 and that these should have been entered in Part VII of this Form. Their explanation seemed clear to me until I then actually came to fill in Forms 2047 and 2042 and then I became quite confused! Perhaps someone could kindly guide me on the following questions. (I receive a Private Pension and a State Pension, and my Wife also receives a State Pension) 1. Form 2047. Do I put my private pension Only in Part 1 under Pension Retraites Rentes ? 2. Form 2047 Part VII. Do I put our State pensions here individually or put them in as a Joint  figure? If seperately, do  I indicate under "Le Beneficiare" as "Mois"  and "Conjoint"  ? 3. Form 2047 Part VIII.  Salaires, Pensions, Rentes etc.  Do I enter any figures in this box for tansferance to Box TL ? Our Form E121 is with CPAM and registered in the UK. We also have our Cart Vitale. 4. Regarding Form 2042. Do I enter the Total of my Private Pension and my State Pension in Box AS?  if not, where do I enter them individually ? 5. Form 2042. Do I enter our joint State Pesnions Total in Box TI? 6. Form  2042. Do I leave Box TL blank ?  ( this will probably be answered in response to my question regarding Part VIII on Form 2047) I have researched many posts to try and get a clear answer to these questions, but could not find an example of the case when someone receives both a private pension and State Pensions. Any assistance would be gratefully received. (I'm running out of Headex Extra !)
  17. I'm about to get ADSL  Yipeeeeeeeeeee. Having trolled the various Broadband providers there is a bewildering choice. I'm attracted to TeleconnectFrance, especially with the free phone calles to UK and other countries. Does anyone have experience of  TeleconnectFrance or recommendatations for other Providers, French or  otherwise?
  18. With regard to declaring both of our UK State Pensions for Tax purposes in France, Do we have to submit these on a seperate FD5 forms on our 1st submission to the French Tax office? If not on the FD5, where do we declare it so it is not taxed in the UK ?
  19. Many Many thanks to Cooperola and Sunday Driver. That is an immense help and has reduced my stress levels to just a little above zero!
  20. We arrived in France in Feb 2006. This is now our Main Residence. (No property in UK). The Cenre for Non Residents UK have all the necessary forms P85 etc. In the middle of last year I visited the local Tax office to submit the FD5 and  was told to return it in May of this year 2007. Question 1. Will I also have to submit a tax return to the French Tax office in May for our income in 2006? even though I may not have a French tax registration number at that time. (not sure how long it will take them to issue this following sumbmission of the FD5). Question 2. Will I qualify for a Tax rebate on the purchase of reversible air conditioning in 2006, even though I was not registered for tax in 2006 ? Question 3. Will I qualify for rebate of all tax paid in UK since Feb of 2006 ? (this assumes I will be paying tax in France from Feb 2006) Question 4. Where can I download the necessary French Tax forms (and what are they?) prior to submission? Question 5. Is anyone aware of an English speaking accountant in the Narbonne area ? Grateful for any help received in this matter.
