Hi All, I'm moving to the Auch area of france this year and would like to install a pool . I have no idea at all about a ball-aprk figure for a swimming pool installtion. I'm looking for a pool of 14m x 4m . Can anyone help out and point in the right direction for installers / what i could expect to pay for a pool of this size ( with all the basic options) . just to confirm that i am not self-employed , i am employed by a uk company on a PAYE basis. Does this help thiings ?

This is the reply i got from an immobilier when askled about fees/commsisions on a purchase i am considering making : “The price of 180.000 is what the owner wants in his pocket. This is negotiable and I will advise on how to get this down as part of my commitment to you. The final price that is reached attracts a kind of stamp duty (faris de notaire) this will be just under 8% if you are a cash buyer (we can discuss what is a cash buyer later and how that may affect you). I have a fee for managing the process, translating and representing you in a professional manner to purchase the property and be able to get what you want out of it. This is a fixed service fee of  10,000 euros to be paid on completion. I can give you a copy of my agreement when you come” Can people advise if the above sounds true & correct ? is he suggesting that he will act as a notaire as well as an agent ?

do you have any pointers as to where i could start , seek out professional advice before i commit to making a purchase in France...i dont fancy the idea of having two thirds of my income grabbed from me by the french authorities !

Hi , Here is my situation , I am purchasing a property in the lannemezan area of France whic will be my main residence with my wife and parents. I will be working in the uk Mon/Tues/Wed and then from france Thur/Fri at this new residence. I am paid a monthly salary in GBP(£) into a uk bank account. I want to know if i am subject to paying further tax on my income ?  thanks jez

can anyone suggest a good book to help me with a renovation project in france. im looking to buy a house with a barn that is in good condition and was thinking if there are any books out there that can help with planning , costings , detailing works etc etc , step by step guides etc

Hi All , I'm new to this fourn and wa wondering if anyone could give me any advice on approximate figures for a renovation of a barn that is 200m2 , it has a new roof and structure is sound (walls) . What sort of figures are we looking at to make this habitable ? dont want it to a luxury standard just to a normal standard. Any ideas ?
