  1. Thank you for the reply Quillan,  I have tried the sitting in the back with him a couple of times but ended up getting soaking wet from his dribbling (I am sure people must have thought I had wet myself[:$]), perhaps I should try it more often. I have had dogs all my life (our other dog just curls up and goes to sleep, or looks out of the back window) but have not come across this before.  I hate taking any medication myself unless I have to and am reluctant to go down the vet/sedative route until I have tried everything,  that is why I posted on this forum in the hope that the very knowledgeable dog owners (that I know are out there from being a regular reader of this forum) could come up with some suggestions that I hadn't tried.  Don't know what he is like with fireworks as it is not something we have come across but we regularly have the chasse in the woods surrounding us and the sound of gunfire doesn't bother him. 2. Our year old dog gets himself into a right state when we have to take him in the car.  He will quite happily jump into the back but as soon as the car starts to move he starts shaking, panting and dribbling.  He has been like this since we got him as a pup and we have tried taking for very short runs (just down our drive) and to our local park to play (only a short distance), also put his bed in the car, but it doesn't seem to make any difference. Has anyone else had this problem and overcome it and if so any suggestions that we can try to help him. Thanks Sylvia
  3. 3 batches flew over this evening, the first batch of about 50 at about 5 o'clock followed by another of about 200 who seemed to be having a quite a discussion, swirling around overhead before splitting into 2 groups and the last group of about 50 again, once again swirling around overhead before regrouping and flying on. As we have a lot of lakes around us I was wondering if they were trying to decide whether to bed down for the night. This has probably been answered before, but, where do they come from and where are they going. Sylvia
  4. My thanks to you all for your help and links.  Having to wear 2 aids and the batteries only lasting about 2 weeks I tend to get through rather a lot of them so will check out for cheapest price. Thankfully I do have a sense of humour and jokes about deafness/poor hearing don't bother me now, the two things that do annoy me are, although I have the 2 aids, for some peoples voice tones I still rely on lip reading  and many people don't actually talk face to face, they seem to be so busy looking around and I have to ask them to repeat what they have said or people think I am ignoring them when I am not, I just don't hear them or realise they are talking to me, and the TV companies who think we need loud background music at all times, even when presenters are talking. OK rant's over with.  Thanks again for your help.
  5. I have a UK NHS hearing Aid and am now running out of batteries, can anyone point me in the right direction for obtaining them in France and what sort of cost they are. Sylvia
  6. When we moved to France I was not eligible for the E106 and just a month short of retirement age, when I contacted Newcastle they explained that I could be covered on my husbands E106 until my E121 kicked in and when my husbands E106 runs out he can be covered by my E121.  Suggest you contact Newcastle, I found them to be so helpful. Hope this helps Sylvia
