Hi   We are moving to the Limousin soon and want to sell our current car and buy a LHD. We have been told that French 2nd hand cars are very expensive, so is there a better way of doing it than buying locally? We only want an old runabout for local driving, as when we go on any longer journeys we will probably hire a decent vehicle! Any ideas/suggestions gratefully received. Latron

Hi My husband and I are hoping to move to France this September. Initially we will be living off our capital as we are both under retirement age. When we have renovated our 'Gite' (summer 2006) we will be letting it out (hopefully!). So, here's the question. We know that to begin with we need an E106, and that if we move to France this September the E106 will only be valid until Jan 2007. I will not be 60 until May 2007 so there will be a gap of about 5 months until I get my pension and can claim health care as a retired person.  However, if by then we are trading, can we then claim health care as self employed people? Any advice as to what to do would be appreciated. Many thanks Cath

Does anyone have any experience of getting grants from Gites de France to do up properties to then let out as gites. Can you actually do this? How much is the grant worth? Would we be better off funding the renovations ourselves so we won't be tied to GdF for years ahead? Advice please! Latron
