Oh dear! Neither of them had any effect. What do you suggest?

We've got a polyester (?) coque pool which has developed a brown waterline about 8 inches wide. We bought a gel which said it would clean it and that we didn't need to lower the water. Although it's maybe a bit cleaner it hasn't gone. Can you advise how to clean it please?
However, that flat rate now entitles everyone to just 19 collections a year.
Lucky you! We just get 17 collections a year without paying extra. Ours is included in the TdH, but I don't expect that to reduce.

I've found that Next is often cheaper in France so I randomly compared prices for the same item £15 in UK, €12 in France! http://www.nextdirect.com/fr/fr/g7698s11#120901 http://www.next.co.uk/g7698s11#120901

Yes, that's as he said. So anyone exchanging their UK licence will get a plastic French one which will expire at age 70, the same as UK licences.

Brian Bilston is a really good poet, not only creating comic verse.“REFUGEESThey have no need of our helpSo do not tell meThese haggard faces could belong to you or meShould life have dealt a different handWe need to see them for who they really areChancers and scroungersLayabouts and loungersWith bombs up their sleevesCut-throats and thievesThey are notWelcome hereWe should make themGo back to where they came fromThey cannotShare our foodShare our homesShare our countriesInstead let usBuild a wall to keep them outIt is not okay to sayThese are people just like usA place should only belong to those who are born thereDo not be so stupid to think thatThe world can be looked at another way(now read from bottom to top)”

To continue the flowery poetry theme:THE FLOWERS OF THE GARAGE FORECOURTBudding lovers bewareof the Flowers of the Garage Forecourt;they are not for courting.Love will not blossomwith the Flowers of the Garage Forecourt, these blundering bouquetsof cellophaned sadness:the slip-road roses and tarmacked tulips, petrol pump peoniesand crushed-dream chrysanthemums. All those dahlias of desperation. The I-forgot-you forget-me-nots.Please know this, would-be customersof the Flowers of the Garage Forecourt:romance wilts with a lack of forethought.Beian Bilston

My French teacher, who is a retired gendarme, said that the new licences are only valid to age 70 and then have to be renewed (presumably after a medical). Is that correct?

I have to admit that I managed to pile on lots of weight (after keeping at my correct BMI) purely because I just thought 'What the hell' whilst I was having treatment, and now I rather regret it.

I think that's probably the answer - just so long as she stops sending them!
-
They aren't even films I especially want to see! Very American TV series etc. I just feel guilty because she's bought them and paid all that money to post them.
-
Thank you. I've tried the previous two suggestions and although the last one got me to some screens I've never seen before, it still didn't work.
-
I think that will be the best solution, thank you.

Yes, the tips I tried said to leave the tray open, then press a sequence of numbers, but I couldn't get any writing to appear on the TV screen unless the tray was closed (then I got a message saying 'no DVD') - I'm not very good at tech stuff!

An American friend has sent me quite a lot of DVDs (the postage cost alone was horrendous!) and they won't play on our DVD player. We could watch them on the computer, but I saw on Google various people saying that you can make the DVD player work with DVDs from all regions. I tried to follow the instructions, but got nowhere. Is it possible, or am I wasting my time? The player is by LG model DP520H.

We've also got a 'Box a Dons' in town where people can leave things and anyone can take them. Presumably the council clear out the junk regularly, but it's quite well used.

That's very different to the shop that's opened near us. They are heaving with decent quality stuff! https://www.facebook.com/ecocyclerierecyclavie/photos/pcb.1680761975278914/1680758968612548/?type=3&theater

A charity shop opened a year or so ago near to us and it seems to be doing well. Everything is clean, sorted into various departments and is sold at very low prices. It's only open on two days a week, but there are always lots of people there. https://www.ouest-france.fr/pays-de-la-loire/soullans-85300/soullans-ils-ont-cree-une-ecocyclerie-associative-4588665

I make Mary Berry's suet free mincemeat. It's really easy and nicer than any I've bought.

EuroTrash I was saying similar the other week. It seems to me that France is run for the benefit of it's citizens whilst the UK is run for ............I'm not sure........big business;;;;;;the rich.......certainly not for ordinary people.
Think how many people will be given work by that, Hoody. And with all the Poles returning there will be plenty of work for everyone so no need for food banks!!
I read that the contract had been awarded to a German company.

Not just Poles. I read a few days ago that 37 Spanish nurses were leaving a Yorkshire hospital due to brexit.
