Losing days?  Sometimes I can look back over some weeks and not know what I've done!  Sadly that's down to overwork and not over indulgence!  Sorry for the delay in replying......

Have tried on a different thread and not got much info - perhaps more info available here! I have a friend who has been here a while with her son.  She is having problems obtaining a carte vitale as the CPAM have told her to obtain a E106 from England and this could prove a problem.  She is fearful of doing this in case Newcastle pass on information about her to her husband.  (Abusive!)  She has not worked in UK for many years so as we understand it the relevant information would have to be obtained from his ni payments etc.  (and she's not even sure if he's been paying them for a while as he 'travels' ) . What should she do and would they contact him?  Would they start investigating him if he hasn't paid for a while (not that she's bothered about him, but it would probably open up a nasty can of worms for her also). It's a complex situation so as she also needs a job would she be able to obtain work under the chaque emploi system and get her employer to obtain necessary s.s. no. and carte vitale all without having to contact the UK at all.  

Has anyone had any experiance with these.  I am with tele2 landline and keep getting sent an offer for a free mobile phone with 4 options free 30 mins p.m. for 14 euro, 1 heure for 17.50 euro ........ I really would feel easier if I had a mobile but would only use it for emergencies (i.e. when I put petrol in the deisel tank!!) so would not want anything expensive to run. This deal is signing up for 24 months so I am not sure if it would be o.k.  Any thoughts please?

Chrissy I think perhaps you perhaps are having a quiet night avec du vin et l'ordinateur?  Too much babysitting perhaps?

At 6 years old in England children would still be struggling with learning english correctly so why put pressure on them to be 'fluent' in french quickly?  Let him do it in his own time.  So long as he's happy and confident at school he will catch up.  Talk to the teacher and make sure they understand the 'problem'. Also I think quite often the parents have the problems because they perhaps feel inadequate about not being able to converse properly (unless they are fluent in french of course!) 

My friend has been here for about 6 months with her son after separating from her husband. Due to circumstances she is finding it difficult to obtain necessary info to obtain her carte vitale.  She thinks that if she gets employment her carte vitale will be supplied without having to go through Newcastle.  Is this the case and would it have to be full time (35 hours p.w.) or could it apply also through the Chaque Emploi scheme.  She is registered for work but has not applied for several jobs because they were under this scheme.
