My original post was written to attract the opinions of those not involved in the trade. I have found over the years that the best way to acquire information is to talk to people. I am not expecting anyone to write a business plan or do a feasibility study. I am not "touting" for business. I am just using the forum for an open and frank exchange of views and opinions. It is human nature to wonder and think what if. Also, don't worry I am not offended by being called naive, I have been called a lot worse; even by my bank manager; although he has held my account for over 15 years.      

If used cars are expensive in France, what about buying LHD in UK and re-registering in France. Would that work?  

Interesting? I have noticed that at certain UK car auctions there are french buyers. Perhaps there is a market for supplying RHD cars or are they buying LHD. Also, what do UK expats do with RHD cars they no longer require while in France. I realise that unless you are in the trade these questions may be difficult to answer, is there a trade resource I could tap into. Cheers

I am a UK based Motor Trader. I buy and sell between auctions and occasionally retail. How would I fair transferring my business to France. Or perhaps working in UK and living in France. Do French people buy second hand cars. Advice please.

Can anyone give me an idea what it will cost my 18 year old son to run a car. Is insurance a big issue as in the UK. Many thanks
