Can anyone give us advice regarding getting connected with utilities such as electric, water and septic tank installation? I keep putting off telephoning Edf as I'm not confident speaking french on the phone and am not sure who to contact re other utilities. I gather that there are companies who will do this for you. Does anyone have any experience of this?

Yes we are covered third party for towing the caravan down so at least there is no worry there, however do you know how high theft is of caravans in SW Fr? Where we are in UK the type of caravan we have just bought is difficult to insure because of the popularity of stealing them by the traveling community (according to several insurance companies). Has anyone who has or is renovating a property in France found a UK insurance company who will cover a caravan kept at the French property site.

Does anyone know the French law on maximum width of caravans being towed on french roads by a vehicle under 3500kg and if it is different to English law? We are bringing a Hobby caravan  down to SW Fr  to leave  at  the site of our property for renovation. If anyone has any  useful info  it would be much appreciated.
