  1. Have found the tap to feed the system[:)] there is a pressure gauge near it, but I have never seen it move so I suspect it's broken[:(]which makes it a bit of a guessing game[blink] I have 'topped up' the system before, and any excess comes out of the overflow. Am I correct in thinking that topping up is also best done when the system is off? Many thanks for all the help[:)]

OK, a question, please, how do you sharpen your knives ?

    [/quote]

I bought a knife sharpener from Lakeland, it has 3 slots weird looking thing with a black handle[blink] it is marvelous, and sharpens any un-serrated knife[:)]

  3. I have a Ford mondeo 2ltr 1999, with all this cold weather my battery has died[:(] it was an old one so no surprise and I'm quite happy to buy a new one BUT I have lost the original code for the radio/cd and know if I change the battery I won't be able able to use it, not too concerned about the radio, but I need the cd player.  Does anyone know how I go about getting a copy of the code? Surely I can't be the only one who doesn't write it in that handy little space in the instruction leaflet[:$]

  4. A radiator needs bleeding and I have been given conflicting advise[8-)] one plumber says if I bleed it when the system is running I will just draw more air in, and another says if I don't bleed it when the system is on there will not be enough pressure to force all the air out[blink] who is right or does it matter???

Of course, in these freezing temperatures, I forgot totally how warm the proposed room is in the summer.

In these freezing temperatures,  I have totally forgotten how nice and warm I was last summer[:-))][:-))] to think we moved here for the climate[blink]

YES, the sink!  Ceramic or stainless steel?

       [/quote]

NOOOOOOOOO! Not stainless steel!!!!! They turn you into a Stepford wife in an instant[:-))] I had one fitted, it looked so good with no splashes or scratches... so every drop of water was wiped away, every chance of a scratch avoided....... it was a nightmare[blink]

  7. Excellent vets, lovely reception staff, they have been our vets for over a year and we have had to, unfortunately, visit them frequently with our terminally ill dog. They have been wonderful.

  8. I'd go for matt if you don't want to spend your life cleaning[:-))] and also a cream/white/neutral colour as what seems great at the moment can be SO last year too quickly[:)] not for the sake of following fashion, just it's going to be around for a while and tastes change.

  9.        [:$]  I'm a "her"[:$]   I use my kitchen table as my work surface at 2 meters plus I find it more than enough, and you can really spread out,[:)] I do a lot of cooking. I like an unfitted kitchen so I can change it around, takes me ages to decide just how I like things[:D]

  10. My kitchen isn't fitted and I love the freedom that gives me, if I fancy moving something around I can. I don't have any wall units as, being vertically challenged,[:-))] I could never reach more than the first shelf[:$] don't forget, if you needed a stepladder to clean the top of the old units you will need one to reach the shelves of a full height unit[geek] I fitted an IKEA kitchen for my sister and found it good quality and easy to do, she is very happy with it, one thing she did have which were fantastic were under unit lights, as gardengirl says, she never uses the main light[blink] I liked the idea so much ( but don't have units! ) I fitted some wall mounted ones, it's great not to be standing in your light when preparing food. The icing on the cake for me is the kitchen, unlike the one I had in UK is big enough to have a kitchen table[:)]

  11. Found one! in with the haberdashery[8-)] tried it and success[:-))] I now have a clean iron with the bonus of clear sinuses!! You weren't kidding about the smell Cendrillion[+o(]

  12. Well, stuck it in the freezer then attacked it with one of those blades you use to get paint off glass[blink] seems to have got most of it off but there's still a slight smear, a quick search of the area hasn't turned up any banana leaves[8-)] -if only I'd known I'd have done it in season - I have been out and about today trying to buy one of those iron cleaning sticks, so far without success[:(] any idea of what I'd ask for in french?????

  13. No, this is obviously a protective coating designed to protect the plate before use, it only covers part of the plate where the holes are I suppose to keep them clear. I just didn't think to look[:$] as you say, they don't normally have one!

  14. Not sure if this is the right place, but I couldn't find one that said "really stupid things to do...."

I bought a new steam iron, filled it with water and heated it up ready to go.... then realised there was a protective coating on the sole plate now firmly welded to the plate!! Is there and easy way to remove it? Have tried heating the iron again to make it soft enough to try and scrape off, just got burnt fingers and a gooy mess!!!!
  15. Can anyone give me the age/make of cars likely to have both continental/uk headlights changeable by a flick of a switch, and I had heard that some cars had a C.O.C. included in the handbook, am I just dreaming? Looking to buy a car and am trying to keep the import of a uk registered one to France as simple as possible if I decide to buy in UK!!
