  1. Have sorted it....almost!!! The thermometer on the incubator says 101 degrees F, but the clinical thermometer I have put in to check it says 98.4 degrees F[8-)] Which one do I believe???? Pommier, I have tried asking on that forum, of which I am also a member, but the replies are so slow in coming, and these eggs need help now[:D]

  2. I have been given this incubator, but the instruction book has been lost. I am trying to regulate the temperature and I'm assuming it is the "screw" marked + and - to the right of the thermometer? doesn't seem to do much though? [8-)][8-)][8-)]

  3. Had a (french) man with a van call by and ask if I wanted our finish renovated, he did a small square to illustrate, looked great, but didn't take him up on it as we had already arranged for re-painting. After he left we realised he had sprayed the wall with a bleach solution, the smell was a giveaway, but I must admit it looked good!!

  4. Thanks for the responses, as long as I know it's something a vet would expect to do that's fine[:)]. Seriously good instructions JK but with her other problems I wouldn't like to stress her out!

  5. Since moving here and walking the dogs across the fields, we have noticed that the nails of our border collie cross have become quite long. I have trimmed them in the past for another dog, but Shauna's are black and I can't see where the quick is.  My problem is who cuts them here? Would a vet be offended to be asked to cut a dog's nails? She is unfortunately terminally ill, ( cancer ) so has already been to the vet here. They are lovely people and I would hate to offend them!

Googling with the words "Ford France" offers you an option to "contact us" which yields an address for Customer Relations in France. I have no idea whether this is what you want.

Yep, done that and e-mailed them 3 days ago, no reply as yet[8-)]

  7. I have just received  LHD headlights for my 2006 Citroen C2, does anyone know how easy, or not,  they are to fit? It looks like you unscrew a nut from the top, unplug the electrics and it should pull out, not having a manual I can't see if there is any more fiddly bits to do underneath and don't want to start it and find I can't finish[:$] Part of me also doubts that it could be that easy! Anyone have an idea of what the local Citroen garage is likely to charge?[:(]

  8. How good/bad/indifferent are the Godin stoves? Thinking of buying a small one, 6.5 kw, to use as back up in the sitting room when the full central heating is not required. Have seen a nice Godin one but haven't used them before.

My thoughts go out to Jo - how are you doing?

Sitting here with fingers crossed Paul! Shauna is still with us, the growth in her mouth has stopped growing and has actually shrunk a bit so she can still eat with no trouble, the vets assure us that it just means the cancer will be growing elsewhere, but she is happy and content and LOVING France! She gets tired a bit quicker than normal, but then she is outside with my OH all day. We have had some lovely warm weather here recently and she has really enjoyed snoozing away in the sunshine! I hope Lace enjoys her trip to France, and continues to stay reasonably well, like yourselves we don't know how long we have, but she is certainly happy!

  10. I have been a named driver on my husband's policy for 19 years, when I bought a second car in my name I was told I would have to start from scratch with regards to my no claims bonus. I did after much searching find a company that would accept a limited amount of no claims on production of a letter from our insurance company. I can't remember who it was now, but I think it could have been the AA?

  11. Just before we moved I phoned DWP and as I currently qualify for a pension in my own right would it be worth me continuing to pay NI contributions to ensure I receive the full pension when I reach retirement age, was told this was not needed as I could claim on my husband's NI contributions. Can't wait to see them back track on that one[:(]

  12. [quote user="Hereford"]Is there no "dependent wife" pension  any more?  By which I mean a pension paid to a non-working married woman UNDER pension age whose husband gets his OAP.  I certainly got this for the five years between OH getting his OAP and me getting mine at aged 60. This is 5 years ago now.   I think one had to claim it, i.e. not paid automatically.

Once I was 60 the pension was paid to me in  my own right - in fact only pennies more as I had been self employed for most of my working life and "opted out" as married women could back in the 70's.

Obviously the changing dates of being able to get a pension are very arbitrary. Makes planning very difficult.

No, this stopped from 5 April last year, My OH and myself were looking forward to this as I am considerably younger than him[;-)] but recent changes meant that any man who wasn't 65 by 5 April 2010, would no longer receive it for a dependant wife, and indeed, those already in receipt of it would lose it after 10 years from 2010, regardless of whether the wife had reached retirement age or not. All well and good being told to plan for your retirement if the bu**ers wouldn't keep moving the goalposts!!!!!
